Question about PC Desktops

DVD problems I have just purchased an Acer Extensa E series desktop PC. My problem is the DVD drive does not recognise some CDs that I am trying to upload. These discs work perfectly with my other computers inluding an acer extensa laptop. Hope you can shed some light.

Have a Dell Vostro 220a with a DVD/CD-RW but it won't recognise most of my CDs. It recognizes some but not most. It will make sounds like its trying to read them then nothing....

If the drive was working before normally then the lens of the drive has started to Mal-function. please contact the manufacturer if the product still has warranty.

Have you tried burning a CD in the new drive? Because the drive is a DVD it will always be recognised as a DVD, but should work perfectly well with CDs both playing and recording.

Not recognising cds and ejects them


If you have SP3 installed, try removing it. It makes problem with some optical drives.
Try new Free Nero 9

New ACER ASX3200/8450 Desktop PC DVD/CD not woking


Hi.
Either the drive is faulty (yes, they fail right from new more often than you would think), or the master slave jumper may not be set correctly on the back of the drive. If the PC came fully assembled, I would take it back and get the tech to check it. If you setup the hardware side of it yourself, check that the jumper is correct for the master/ slave situtation of the drive and make sure the cables are pressed in firmly.

try obtaining a firmware update for your CD or DVD Rom drive and maybe even a bios update for your computer.

I've got a new Acer Aspire 7720G Blu Ray laptop.I'd just installed Itunes and was downloading some cds onto it when it suddently decided not to recognise anymore cds. further still, it does no longer...


It sounds like the drive has failed. Contact ACER and they will replace it under their warranty.

Erecovery management


Acer has inbuilt data recovery managemt ..use that tool to create backup ...Try to use some other brand DVD/CD
this will solve the problem

does the pc recognise the cd drive , if it does but still not recognise the disk,s then its maybe faulty , replacement dvd drives are soo cheap , £25 ans easy to fit , if you can not see the drive in "my computer" the click start.right click my computer,click properties.click hardware and then device manager.scrool down ,look for dvd/cd rom drives or any yellow question mark???, click item and properties and go from there ,
