There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites.

WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.

Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to Windows-based computers.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself:
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

How do you download freemusic to my eclipse cld 4gb mp3 player

First you download the music from MP3 music sites to your computer, then connect the USB cable to your player and plug the USB cable into the USB port of your computer. The computer will see the MP3 player as an external storage device then copy the MP3 music files from your computer to the MP3 player.

My apple classic ipod has frozen,iv jus brout new usb charger/downloader 4 it... how do i charge it through my computer & download songs..& get it 2 unfreeze?

To unfreeze it, try moving the "hold" switch to Off, and the to On again,
and then press the Menu and Center button simultaniously for 10 - 15 seconds, if it works the apple logo should apear and it will start up.

To charge it through your computer, all you need to do is plug it in, and should automatically begin to charge the battery. to download songs you need iTunes which you can get from www.itunes.com

I plugged in my i pod and came back a hour later and the screen was black and was frozen and none of the buttons would work

you will need to reset your ipod this will not delete songs. 1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
2 Press and hold Menu and the Center button for at least 6 seconds, until the
Apple logo appears.
If iPod nano won’t turn on or respond
â Make sure the Hold switch isn’t set to HOLD.
â The iPod nano battery might need to be recharged. Connect iPod nano to your
computer or to an Apple USB Power Adapter and let the battery recharge. Look for
the lightning bolt icon on the iPod nano screen to verify that iPod nano is receiving
a charge.
To charge the battery, connect iPod nano to a USB 2.0 port on your computer.

My mp3 dosent work!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mine did this too when it was new, just hold down the menu/power button for 15 seconds, depending on how fast your counting you might have to hold it down longer.. that will reboot it (sometimes it delets the tracks, just warning you) and other times it just restarts it.

mine did this also, I charged it and i got to use it one time. after i added a test song it and unplugged it from computer while it was still on, it would not come back on.. somehow i got it to reset, i believe one of the tiny holes near the usb plug is the reset switch , try inserting a safety pin or paper clip and it may turn back on.

Need help

1. Have you tried charging your Ipod from another source other than the computer? Maybe a car charger for an Ipod or a kind that can be plugged into the wall. Ipod chargers are very inexpensive.
2. If that doesn't work try rebooting your Ipod with your Ipod program you were given to manage your Ipod.

3. Make sure that when downloading songs that they are Ipod compatible, meaning that they are mp3 ready. Before downloading a song you should be able to see the credentials the song has for downloading. Most of the time if the format cannot be changed to being mp3 ready, most likely the song won't convert to your ipod.

Files will not load

Try reformatting the drive to factory defaults. I would also try this unit on other PCs to verify that the USB port will not work correctly. Does the USB port on your Sony Walkman MP3 player have any damage or broken pins/connectors on the USB port?

I just need help downloading songs.

Plug in into a USB port on your computer.

On your computer, click START / MY COMPUTER and you should see, along with your other hard drives, your mp3 player listed.

You can now now cut or copy and Paste or drag & drop your mp3s onto the player.

If your mp3 player doesn't display on MY COMPUTER, wait 30 seconds & press F5 to refresh.
