Usually, shen you have this problem, there is an obstruction of dirt etc. somewhere in the suction path.
You need to take the vacuum apart and clean thoroughly first.
Then get back to me.

Why doesn't brush roller rotate?

The ends may be clogged with debris. You will have to remove the brush roller and remove one end cap to disassemble the roller for cleaning.

Panasonic ecomax carpet bar won't drive

The first thing to check is make sure the belt is not broken or stretched. It is possible that a vacuum cleaner may need a new belt even if you just bought it. It may have been a year or more since it was assembled and had the belt installed. It may have spent some time in a warehouse and on the store shelf before making it to your home so the first thing to check is always the belt. If it has a stretch belt they must be stretched to almost twice their original length when installed on your vacuum and they lose elasticity. The rule of thumb in the vacuum industry is belts should be changed every three months for proper agitation. If the belt is not broken or stretched check to see if there may be something stuck in there preventing the brush roll from spinning freely.

Hi, i have a panasonic eco max, the brush has stopped going round, the belt is as new and brushes clean.suction good from hose. Any ideas please? thank you

The brush on this model is controlled by the on/carpet/floor switch and will only work in the carpet position. If the suction motor is running then it could be the roller brush motor, but it's more likely to be the microswitch which stops the brush motor when the handle is returned to the upright position.

Anyone know why my Bissell Proheat 2X Turbo Model 9300's brushes won't turn anymore

If the Brushes don't rotate, & you have two brushes; 1). Turn unit on side. ( Make sure unit is up-pluged) 2). Rotate the front brush roller, if the second roller moves at same time, 3). Locate a small ribbed belt that goes from the further back roller, to a small ribbed pully. (Gates belt #177-3m5) ( on side under a clear cover) The belt may not be broken, but may have carpet fuzz / lint covering the belt ribs, causing the belt to slip. If that belt is OK and you find that the small pully doesn't turn the belt/rollers, the problem is with a small internal direct drive motor, that drives the brush rollers. At this point return the unit, as Bissell has a design defect & is using cheap parts.

Roller is not turning

The belt is supposed to be there, it drives the brush. If you cannot turn the brush easily by hand the you want to remove the bottom cover and take the brush out and clean around the bearings at each end of the brush using a dental type pick make sure you get all the hair and carpet materials out of the bearings. Then clean the area where the bearings sit in the housing. Then you have to feed the belt,(if it's not broken) back onto the motor. Yes it twists from a lateral position to a verticle position. Thanks, Dana

Brushes won't turn and vacuum will not pick up sprayed cleaner

There's a Capt. Obvious fix to check before you go any farther. Like many vacuum cleaners, the brushes on the Bissell carpet cleaners, by design, only spin when the handle is not locked in the upright position, so be sure to plug it in, turn it on, and depress the foot pedal to lower the handle while watching the brushes one more time to be sure that the fix isn't that easy.

If the brushes still won't spin with the handle in the unlocked position, lift the handle back up into the locked position, power off and unplug the Bissell, and look down and see if either of the two belts that make the brushes spin are broken, as a broken belt, or a belt that's come off the track, is the next most likely problem. Both belts must be unbroken and in the right place for the roller brushes to spin.

These belts can be seen in the clear plastic pieces on either end of the roller brushes. If you're having trouble locating them, **with the Bissell unplugged so the brushes won't suddenly start spinning and hurt your hand**, try spinning the brushes with your fingers while watching for the belts. They're black, about the thickness of two quarters, and the bigger one of the two (on the left end of the roller brushes, as you face the front of the Bissell), is just big enough to fit around both roller brushes. The smaller belt, goes around the back roller brush on the right and to a smaller cog wheel behind it. If you see a broken belt, or a belt off the track, that's your problem.

Here's a video you can watch for free on Bissell's website that tells how to replace a belt. I'm sure the belts can be ordered online somewhere or found at some Bissell dealers or repair shops. Note, again, the two belts are different. If only one is broken, be sure to order the correct one.

If the belts are intact and in the right place, does the metal cog wheel behind the roller brush right turn when the Bissell is on and the handle is dropped? If not, then the motor that turns that cog wheel must be burned out.

Panasonic MC-E4013 has lots of **** but won't pick up. Drive belts and brush roller go round OK, Any ideas?

There are a few things to check.
The Twin Bin model could have clogged filters, So you'll have to depress the button on the top and check that the first top filter isn't clogged, then check the removable black filter and check that it isn't clogged with dust. Once these have been removed ensure that the mesh filters are completely clear. Although Panasonic dont suggest it, you can wash the top grid white filter and the black filter but you must ensure that both are dry before installing them. Low temp tumble dry in a pillow case will get the sponges dry in around 10 to 20 minutes but dont use a high temp as the plastic grid will melt! The mesh filters can be cleaned using the on board upholstery brush. Failing that use a paint brush to dislodge any clogged dirt - the worst for cutting suction is the powdery greyish white powder which always clogs the mesh filters.
Then before putting everything back, take the bottom hose out of the front by unhooking it before putting the bin back on. Remove the sole plate and the whole tube should be able to come off although you may need to unscrew the holder at the soleplate area which holds the bottom hose to the bottom of the cleaner. Once that is done the entire hose should come off free and by sticking a blunt stick down this hose slowly, there may well be a clog.
This model and the rest of the Twin Bin series aren't particularly well designed. Ive had two models from Panasonic over the years, both of them being the Twin Bin design uprights (MCE 4003 and MCE 4103) which still have the same inherent problems of pick up when the filters or hose gets blocked. The beauty of the Panasonic however is that the hose handle can be removed by pushing in the lugs and getting around the machine for maintenance is easy but time consuming.
Remember that you do have two drive belts on this machine so make sure the motor pulley belt to the drive belt is secure.
Hope that helps!
