RCA D52W19 Flyback Transformer

My RCA TV has been making wierd buzzing noises that were consistant with severe screen flicker...cuirous i took it apart and found a 'voltage leak' on the red (assuming H.V. Lead) off the FBT i am looking to find a new transformer with leads on it but have been unable.

so what question is i need some help with safely removing any stored voltages within the FBT circuits. and how to terminate the H.V> cable to prevents arcing from the wire to the transformer body......any other information will be greatly appreciated.

This transformer does not come with the hv lead,if the arch is coming from the side of the transformer, cut the side of the plug were it goes into the transformer and the lead will come out, there is no voltage stored on the hv lead after the set is unpluged for a few min.,the transformer you can get at any rca repair center.

I have hdtv rca d52w19 green power lights shows

Hello Chris this problem is coming from your high voltage circuit which consist of the flyback transformer and the horizontal output circuit, the most common problem when it is acting this way would be bad soldering on the flyback transformer or defective transformer but keep in mind it can also be caused by the horizontal circuit or a faulty lamp as well can cause this problem, what i would recommend is to have a tech come out to service your tv set this should not be an expensive repair since most of the time it is just bad soldering on the flyback thank you hope this helps.

The flyback transformer is super high voltage. Have it checked out by a shop, don't go near it. TV's can hold a charge for days.

The F27669 uses the CTC203 series chassis. The most common cause of that symptom is a shorted horizontal output transistor, caused by a cracked solder joint on a small coil connected to that transistor's base. When this happens, the main B+ supply is shorted to ground so the power supply squeels. Every once in a while I also see the horizontal output transistor shorted due to a shorted flyback (high voltage) transformer. A good tech will replace the horizontal output transistor, resolder the coil and drive transformer, test the flyback (replacing it if necessary) and your set will be back to perfect.

Sounds like you have a shorted horizontal out put transistor and bad flyback transformer. This is a common problem in the newer RCA's. I've had serveral of them do this. The noise that you hear is the power supply telling you that it's overloaded. Stargazer
