Canon NP6050 Waste Toner Cartridge

We have a message to replace "waste toner cartridge" but we can't locate it. Do we have to call a service person, or is this something we can do on our own?

Unfortunately it must be a different model or maybe year of manufacture... but the waste toner was in the back of the copier. We had to remove the entire back panel and then a smaller side panel to slide out the waste toner cartridge, which looked like a large bottle. Now the system error is still there but the cartridge is empty. Any ideas on how to reset the error message?

I'm doing this from memory since I don't have a copier in front of me. You will have to reset the counter for waste toner by going into service mode. You do this by opening the front door and inserting a straightened paper clip into the small hole just below the control panel. If you do this correctly there will be a $ sign at the upper left of the LCD screen. Press the * key, then the 6 key and then the * key again. Another screen appears. Use the arrows displayed to move through the screens until you see WSTTNR. Insert the paper clip again and while still pushing in on the paper clip press the "C" key on the keypad. The counter should go to all "0's". Also check the counter for the web. If its close to 250,000 copies you will be getting a replace web soon message. You reset the counter just like the waste toner counter. Just for good measure you may want to do an overall copier reset in the *4* service mode. Select OK and the copier will shut down automatically and come back on on its own. That should clear any other errors the copier may have. I hope this gets your problem solved.

You can do it on your own. There's actually instructions on the LED display but it went something like:
1) open front (access door for toner area)
2) Slide blue handle up to open position.
3) Remove was toner receptacle.
Now since I didn't have a new waste toner, I just dumped out all the toner and re-inserted it. I imagine there may be some repurcussions or the toner is hazardous, I'm not sure. I'll actually get the waste toner cartridge for next time though.

Waste toner container message won't go away after replacing cartridge

Here is a link to the brochure for your machine. You may find your answer in here.

I also would have thought that if the power was turned off and on again after the toner was changed, that it would reset itself. I suspect you have already thought of that, though. Sorry I cannot be of more help but the brochure might be the answer for this query and perhaps more in the future.

Changing waste container

The is no waste container on Phaser 6500. There is a "waste collection box" in every toner cartridge and the waste toner is discarded along with the empty cartridge. The is also a waste toner reservoir on the transfer belt and this one will be replaced along with the transfer belt.

If there is an error message saying, for example, "Waste Full Cyan Cartridge", it means the waste toner counter reached the replacement value for that color and you have to replace the corresponding cartridge. But the waste collection box is not really full.

Toshiba E-Studio 202L cartridge does not match manufacture

Did you replace the waste (used) toner cartridge or the empty toner cartridge? These copiers have 2 "cartridges" .... one is waste (used) toner, the other is "new" toner for copying / printing etc. Some newer copiers have All in One units....Drum, New Toner, Waste (used) Toner. If you replaced the Waste Toner container (or dumped it) that should reset the code or error message.

The waste toner is in the front, open front cover and the white bottle in the middle is the waste toner cartridge. Remove the black screw, and empty or replace the cartridge.

Emptying waste tone cartridge

You need to replace the waste toner bottle (packaged with a new toner cartridge) you can't just empty it. There is a photo sensor that "reads" through a window of the waste bottle. The sensor could be dirty. Clean the slits with a q-tip.

Waste Toner for GP200 series

The waste toner is collected inside the drum cartridge. It can be emptied by removing the drum cartridge assy and opening the opaque window and emptying into a large bag. The lines on your copies are probably a symptom of the drum being worn out, so replacement is probably a better option. The drum is good for 60,000 copies.
