Agitator My agitator is not moving during the wash cycle and therefore, not moving the clothes down/through out the wash cycle. I thought it should be moving...am I right? If so, can this be a fix it yourself problem? JAM

Same. It will not agitate the cloths.

Originally the agitator worked fine for the first 4-5 minutes of the wash cycle, then it would start clicking and stop agitating, but would resume as usual after that part of the cycle was done. Now it has stopped completely and won't move at all during the wash cycle, but picks up with the drain and rinse like usual.

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate care II Mod. # LSQ8243HQO We just bought it from another Owner and the upper agitator isnt spinning to push the clothes down. Also when I take out the Fabric softner dispencer the only thing under it is an agitator cap seal. Am I missing a part in between? The agitator is Wobbley and I can spin it by Hand, but when clothes are in it, it is stationary. Is there an easy fix? and a how to guide for a Girl!! LOL.

    Thanks

My agitator was broken to and it was dog clips inside, remove the dispenser and undo the nut inside and there are four dog clips, check to see if those are broken and replace and it should work, if not its another problem.

Check the drive coupling between the motor and gearbox, does it make a clicking sound does it spin or just pump the water out only.

How do i replace the agitator in my old heavy duty whirlpool washing machone?

Hello.

The Whirlpool Ultimate Care II washing machine is atop-loading clothes washer. The washer has several cycles to choose from, including cycles for washing normal clothes, permanent press items, delicateand items marked "Hand Wash." To do its job, thewashing machine relies on an agitator, located in the center of the wash tub.The agitator rotates during the wash cycle, moving the clothes around the washtub so that they are cleaned equally. If the agitator is broken, it will notsufficiently agitate the clothes and must be replaced. ·1 Unplug the washing machine from the wall outlet or turn off the power supplyin your service panel. · 2 Open thewashing machine lid and remove any clothes remaining inside. · 3 Remove thefabric softener cup by squeezing the bottom lip of the cup and lifting itstraight off. · 4 Pry theagitator cap off of the top of the agitator with a flat-head screwdriver. · 5 Remove thebolt at the bottom of the agitator, using the socket wrench with extension, andthen remove the agitator from the washing machine. Tip the agitator to removethe bolt and washer. · 6 Install thenew agitator onto the drive shaft. · 7 Secure thenew agitator with the bolt that you originally removed. · 8 Press theagitator cap and fabric softener cup back into position on top of the newagitator. · 9 Restore powerto the washing machine to complete the repair.
Thanks.

A piece of clothing is stuck underneath the agitator! It won't turn during the wash cycle. The spin cycle still works. How do I disconnect the agitator, so I can remove the piece of clothing?

remove the agitator by first taking off the softner dispenser at the top of the agitator and then look down inside. inside you will see a half inch head bold. remove bolt and lift agitator out.

Load squeal when it in the agitation cycle.

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Sounds like what you have is a dual agitator, bottom moves back and forth in wash, top acts like a screw pulling clothes down to the bottom of the tub. If so, the agitator dogs are bad, to get to them, pop off the cap on top of the agitator, then reach down inside and pull up a cap in there, then use a socket (I forget the size) and a long extension to unbolt the agitator and pull it out, the dogs are located between the top and bottom sections. They are slightly curved rubbery plastic pieces, 4 total. About an 1 1/2" or so long, one end fits into a hole on the inner part of the agitator and the other end is ribbed to catch the outer part of the agitator during the wash stroke.

Just spins during the wash cycle

Sounds like the agitator got dislogged during moving. In some machines the design allows for the agitator to move up and down alittle too much. Try this and this is only a guess. With the machine empty push down firmly on the agitator and move it back and forth as you do. You might hear a little "pop". If it does, try running the machine again. If it works problem solved, if not tell what happened.

Wheezing sound

The inside tub moves on the spin stage only and cause the water, by a centrifugal force, to be forced out of the clothes. During the wash cycle, the tub is stationary and the agitator moves forth and back. If you would like to remove the agitator - Remove the inner agitator cap (inside the top of the agitator) and then open the screw (be aware not to lose parts !) Good luck !
