If other disks can be played then this problem is easily sovled, if your PS2 does not play any disks you may need a new reader, but this still might be able to solve it. If it is still under warranty, send it back to Sony and let them fix it. If not, then you will have to break the warranty seal on the back and open it up. You might just try cleaning the lens with alcohol and a cotton swab. You will need a small set of screwdrivers and a felt tip pen. First, take the case off, you will need to remove all 8 screws on the bottom in order to do so. Take the top of the case off, you will need to watch out for the front of the disk drive when doing this. After that, remove the lid to the disk drive. There are 4 screws near each of the corners that you will need to remove to do so. Lift the top off and then there are two screws on the left side(if the controller bay is facing towards you), you will need to remove these to get the disk drive out. Once the disk drive is removed, in older versions you will already be able to see the white dial that we need to alter, in newer versions there is a plate covering it, it is near the back of the console. Remove it and then mark the starting position of your white dial with your felt tip marker. Once you know where the starting position is, you can rotate it one movement at a time and then put the disk drive and covering back on, you will not need to replace the screws yet. After moving the dial one click, put the drive back in and put a CD in it. Since you are having problems with the blue disks, try one of those first, although this is the most difficult one to get working, but if it works, most if not all of the other disks should work. Put the top back on and plug it in, turn it on and hold the lid firmly but not to firmly onto it. If you are holding it too loose the disk will fly off, too tight and it will click. If this doesn't work, take it all apart and move the dial one more click. This is just trial and error until you finally get one to work. You will want to have a controller in so you can get to the browser menu so you don't have to wait for it to load the game and then turn it off. Once you get your console to read a blue disk, you might try the other style disks before putting it all back together. If you try every click on the dial and none of them work, you may need to purchase a new reader. After you find you PS2's working position, you can put all the screws back in and continue gaming. This is a common problem among the older versions of PS2's so don't worry if you do need a new reader. You can find new readers online and they are faily easy to replace, they cost somewhere between $50-$60. I hope this helps.

Disk spins laser comes on disk cannot be read ps2 75001

first, make sure the disks themselves are clean and free of scratches. often as not a disk read error on a PS2 is because of dirt. if the disk has a blue back, however, there's a special proceedure to get them to run (the blue ones are still in CD format instead of DVD)

My ps2 wont play blue disc i have a action replay for nfsu2 for ps2 and my ps2 wont read it can i fix it?

Blue colored disks are the hardest for your ps2 to read, there is an adjustment to try to improve this, but it requires opening your console and digging into the DVD drive. Most people don't bother with it unless it won't play other disks. Here is a link to instructions:

Good luck.

Take a lens cleaner disk, and then run it three times. The ps2 will work or if it doesn't. Its time to upgrade to slimline.
