This link will show an exploded view of the area. Part number 6 is the defrost thermostat. Cut and paste into your browser.

Basically you need to empty the freezer, remove the drawer and back panel, unclip the thermostat and replace, there are two wires and should be the same on the new one, use caution not to damage the evaporator coils.

My amana bottom freezer was doing that. The fix is to replace the defroster coil and thermostat. Relatively easy just be careful defrosting you can melt the plastic with a hair dryer.

Press refrigerator light switch five times in six seconds to initiate defrost cycle. Pressing five more times within six seconds will cancel defrost and go straight into the run mode. Similar operation on both bottom mount and SxS refrigerators. After the defrost terminator/thermostat opens, six minutes of dwell time occurs before the compressor and condenser fan motor will operate. Amana BX20RW Refrigerator slightly warm freezer not freezing
Check the thermostat, to make sure that it is working properly. The theremostat is a long wire in the top of the freezer up near the fan. If that is bad it will not let your freezer cool correctly
