Yes never use the self clean right before a holiday like thanksgiving.
99.9% of the time everything will be fine. The other time when you're going to need the oven the HSI will go bad a the oven will not relight. This happened to me. I love self clean. Do this on a cool day it will heat up the kitchen and kinda smell a little. Make sure all racks and cookie sheets are out, lock the door and hit the button.

Testimonial: "Thanks sounds like an easy clean. Looking forward to seeing the results."

I ran the self clean cycle and at the end of the cycle and cool down the door latch would not disengage. It has been two weeks. I tried rerunning the cycle also cut the breaker to the unit and left it off for 15 min.. nothing! What now?

How do I use the self cleaning option on my Kenmore stove model# 970C623331. Do I remove oven racks?

that model doesn't come up,that could be the serial number,do you know that when the dryer is in self clean it gets up to 1000 degrees, when it gets this hot it can do damage to the electronics in the oven, from what i've seen on other peoples ovens i will never use the self clean again, but to answer your question remove the racks and clean them in the sink or you can soak them in the tub, whatever is easier for you.i get in there with an sos and scrub,if any spills are big on the floor i wet it and let it sit for a minute or two and scrape it out with a putty knife or you can use a spatula,if it's really bad easy off is made safe for most self clean ovens now, don't put tin foil on the oven floor when you cook,it can damage the floor,so watch out for that.kenmore doesn't make anything so you need the model number to see who made the stove,if you open the drawer under the oven door, look on the left or right side of the frame and you'll see a tag with the model and serial numbers,go here, put your model number in and you can look up the manual for your stove.hope this helps you out.

My oven has a self cleaning mode, do I need to wipe the oven out or do anything else before I start the cycle?

Yes, just do a quick wiping of the interior of the oven. Don't leave any pans in oven. Take out oven racks. You can leave racks in but they will discolor permanently. Better to take racks out and use Carbona Oven rack and grill cleaner. Buy at Amazon or Ace Hardware. Put racks in the bag,add cleaner, wait overnight and rinse shiny clean! After oven self clean is done, wipe interior again. It may look somewhat like gray ash

Electrolux Icon Oven self cleaning won't start- the lock button keeps flashing. Yes, the racks and rack holders are removed.

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are having trouble with your Electrolux Icon oven, model# E30SO75ESS, and running the self-clean cycle. I see that the lock button keeps flashing and that you have the racks and rack holders out. I suggest following the steps below to run your self-clean cycle:

    1) Place the rack holders and the racks in your oven.

    2) Reset your appliance, by shutting the power off at your homes circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes.

    3) Restore power.

    4) Reset the clock, by pressing the "Clock" button then press the number "2". Enter in the time of day, and then press the "Clock" button again.

    5) Start the self-clean cycle with the racks in your range. This is to make your oven recognize that the racks are in the oven.

    6) Take the racks and rack holders out and start the self-clean cycle again.

I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your oven status has changed successfully.

    -Best Regards-

Electrolux icon duel fuel range racks red light wont stop flashing even though I removed all racks, so oven will not start self clean cycle

Good Morning Andrea,

I see that you are having trouble with your Electrolux range, model# E30DF74GPS, and getting it to go into the self-clean cycle. I would suggest giving it a hard reset. First make sure the racks are in. Next, cut the power at the circuit breaker and leave it off for 2-3 minutes. After the time has elapsed cut the power back on. Start the self-clean cycle with the racks inside the oven. We're trying to get the oven to recognize the racks are inside. Once it states the racks are in, cancel out and take the racks out. Now, with the racks out start the self-clean cycle again. If you are still receiving the red light blinking, I suggest contacting the manufacturer or your local authorized technician. Hope this has been helpful.

-Best Regards-

Using the oven self cleaning cycle to clean drip

This is not advisable because it will severely damage the chrome and or color of the drip pans and the oven racks. It will make the oven racks hard to pull in and out of the oven once the finish has been burned off. I did this, so I know.

Self Cleaning Feature

First... yes you should remove the racks before using self cleaning. Broil pan too if it is in there. Second... the doors will lock by themselves, you don't need to do anything there. typically it takes about 3 and 1/2 hours to go through the cleaning cycle and yes you can use the cooktop while it's cleaning.
