Unable to complete router set-up: username & password problem

The problem comes at this point in the router set-up:

The server www.routerlogin.com at WGR614v7 requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).

The username password is blank, but has my VZW mobile e-mail address selectable from the drop-down menu. No combination of usernames and passwords that I have tried has worked.

I would appreciate any assistance you could give me here.
Thanks,
John

Www.routerlogin.com is not asking password here, but some of their features, as online search are not working, evidently they are passing throught some kind of trouble with the website.
Here is netgear help page for your router
The search box does not work but you can open knowledge base pages.

If you need your own router default password instead: User is 'user'
Password is 'password' or '1234'

Configuration of NETGEAR router as Access Point:

The below steps illustrates the usage of router's like WGR614, WGT624, WPN824 as an access point to extend the wireless network in your location. The only required setup is that you should have a DHCP server running on your network ( be it your modem or a different router).

1. Connect a computer directly to NETGEAR router on any of the four LAN ports.
2. Access the router, usually with http://192.168.1.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com.
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on wireless settings in the left hand side menu Under Setup.
5. Change the network name SSID to some other name.
6. Select security options as 'WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)'.
7. Set the 'Authentication Type' as 'Automatic' and Set the 'Encryption Strength' as 64-bit.
8. In Key 1 type a 10 digit number.
9. Apply the settings.

Click on LAN IP setup from the left menu.

1. Change the IP address of the router from 192.168.1.1 to a free IP of your existing DHCP network.
2. Also disable the DHCP of the router by unchecking the box for 'Use router as DHCP Server'.
3. Click apply and click ok for any popup message that arise.
4. Once the browser display some error message like CANNOT FIND SERVER, ACTION CANCELLED etc, turn off the router and restart the computer.

Now, connect the two router in the following way:

1.Connect Ethernet cable from the Lan port of the existing router/modem to the Lan port of the NETGEAR router.
2. Powercycle both the routers and your computer
3. You may connect other computers' directly to NETGEAR router or wirelessly as per your requirement.

I have a netgear router and im not connected

Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net/ or http://www.routerlogin.com./ Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed. If you cannot log into your router: Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings. If it is not visible, you can change your wireless passphrase; however, changing the passphrase will cause you to lose your wireless connection. Connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable before entering a new passphrase into the text box and Clicking Apply. If there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings.

No wifi signal and cannot open 192.168.1.1

If there is no Wifi signal you will need to connect using the network cable from your pc to the router lan port (one of the 4 black ones, Not the yellow one)
For this router you need to type www.routerlogin.net, or www.routerlogin.com to login to the router.
The default username is admin and password is password.
From here you can configure Wlan settings.
Select the type of security you would like to use and network key.
If you username and password do not work you can reset router to factory setting but pressing the reset button on the back of the router with a paper clip.

Try www.routerlogin.net www.routerlogin.com or http://www.192.168.1.1 instead.
the default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".
To change log-in details: On the main menu, under Maintenance, select Set Password to display the Set Password screen.
Have a good one.

3. Go to wireless, change the wireless settings like the ssid and setup the encrption. Go to LAn settings under advance.
4. Disable the dhcp server and change the ip address of your WNR1000
ex. You plan to connect your wnr1000 to a w ired route rwith an ip address of 192.168.1.1. You can set the wnr1000 to 192.168.1.x ( except 1)
Save the changes,
