You can reset the administrator password by several ways:
You can find it one here:
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=305
I myself have a boot CD for reset the administrator password. I downloaded it from internet but I forgot the link, I could not find it anymore.
By the way if that link above can not help you, let me know, I will ask the site manager of fixya how can I share my boot CD to you.

The password is case sensitive. You might want to double check to make sure that you do not have Caps Lock on by mistake when typing it in. To avoid not being able to login, be sure to write down you user account's username and password and store it in a safe place for future reference if you need it. Another great option is to create a Password Reset Disk. But you can only create one if you're able to login to windows.

If you use an Administrator account to remove the password for any other user account, the user account with the removed password will lose access to its encrypted files, e‑mail messages that are encrypted, and stored passwords for websites or network resources. If the user account doesn't have any of these things, or the user doesn't mind losing them, then using an Administrator account to remove the password is a fast and easy way to recover from a forgotten password.

1. Logon to the Administrator account.
NOTE: If you forgot the Administrator account password, then logon to another Administrator account.

2. Reset or Change the forgotten password for the user account. Go to start, control panel, user accounts. Click remove password.

The computer won't let me in without a systm passwod it just started doing this

Virginia smith,
Did you forget the password? Are there others that you share this computer with? System passwords are inputted in the computer by the users. Dell does not put any passwords in computers. Dell also does not have any generic passwords that will get you into the computer. You will need to find out the password, search the internet for password recovery websites, format and reinstall Windows or click the link below and view other ways that may be helpful in recovering the password.

Locked password

Locked Password where? Bios Password? Hard Drive Password? Windows User Account (userid) Password? And which operating system?

If it's the Bios Password, then you will need to remove the CMOS Battery and let the computer sit for a couple of hours. Then put the battery back in and try rebooting. You'll have to go back into the BIOS or Setup to put the correct date and time in but the password should be gone from memory.

If it's the Hard Drive Password, you're kinda out of luck. Hard drives are locked 99% of the time when the computer is stolen. The original owner either locked it while he had possession of it or he could have locked it remotely when it was stolen to keep thieves from getting to sensitive data. The only way around it is to have the original put the password in, or Purchase a new hard drive to put in the computer, reload the operating system, reload the drivers and reload application programs.

If it's the Windows Password for User Account turn off the computer, then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key until you see the SAFE MODE Option. Take the Safe Mode option to boot the computer. When it comes to the login screen it will show you the Administrator account and the Account for which you forgot or don't know the password. Log into the Administrator account (hopefully you didn't password protect it and forgot it). When windows desktop comes up click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts. When the User Accounts window opens up click on the User Account for which you forgot the password then select Remove Password. Reboot the machine

Go to Control Panel and the click on the User Accounts. There's one rule in deleting user accounts - You can delete all user accounts except for one ADMINISTRATOR account. This is to ensure that there is one user that can manage other users and the system configurations.

My first name is always rejected

If this is during windows setup make sure the name you put down for the computer and company information are not your own. Then when you go and set up your user account in the later step of windows setup you should be allowed to enter your name. Windows does not allow a computer name, company, owner, and user to be the same. If this is the case it can be easily solver by putting a descriptor like " Websurfer " for the computer name NA for the company and then you should not have a problem.
