Ink cartridges and print heads are 2 different things.

A print head is the part on the printer that the ink snaps into. On most canon printers this part is removable.

What I would do is take the ink out and then that piece that they snap into that moves across the page, look and see if that piece removes. (normally they have a release button or lever) If it does just take it out and put it back in as sometimes the computer chips don't make a good contact and the printer just doesn't know it's there. Make sure there isn't any little piece of plastic covering the chips. They like to ship them that way.

Try that and if it doesn't help I would pack up the printer and go exchange it seeing as you just purchased it. 90% of the time just taking the print head out and putting it back in will fix your problem for you. The other 10% of the time you just have a defective head.

Hope this helps, let me know

My all-in-one 4200 printer setup to my pc?????

Epson, Samsung, Lexmark all have a 4200 all-in-one printer... so I'll give you instructions that are general.

Your printer came with a CD which included drivers and installation material. With your computer on, insert your CD and install the drivers. This is done BEFORE you connect the printer to the computer. Once the drivers and associated software is installed, you might have to restart your computer. You will be instructed if this is the case.

Once all the software is installed, you will be prompted to connect your printer to the computer (ie: attach the USB cable to the printer). Then apply power to the printer and the computer will recognize it as an additional piece of hardware and should configure itself. You may be asked some basic questions, just answer the questions and you should be good to go.

Hi,
try uninstalling any software relating to the printer.
shutdown the computer. Remove any printer to computer cables. Re-boot ( startup ) the computer.
let it set itself up. then shutdown.
turn off the power to computer, put your printer cable back in, as if you were installing it for the first time.
the computer should have found new hardware ( your printer ) And ask for a driver. ensure your HP disk is in the drive, and ask to search Drive D:- Or E:- wherever your CD is located.
If it,s already got the latest drivers installed, i would,nt worry unless your printers not functioning correctly.

I have replaced an ink jet cartridge but the light does not come on ; it doesnt recognise the cartridge although it is a genuine canon original.

unplog the printer.open the catridges & put it again.check printer properties.if it shows the catridge it's all ok.
else re install the printer.
