If you wish to reset your DELL VOSTRO 320 to it's factory defaults, first you must back up your files as restoring the computer to factory defaults mean it will erase all data saved on the Hard drive. Please make sure that you have a working copy or disk of your applications as these too will be erased. The DELL PC Restore only restores all pre-installed applications. If you have upgraded the pre-installed Operating System to a different version the DELL PC Restore will restore the originally installed Operating System that is if during the process of you formatting or reformatting the Hard drive you did not delete the partition that contains the DELL PC Restore. If you have done so the DELL PC Restore will not activate once you press it's combination keys. With that said here are the steps to restore your computer to factory defaults.
1. Turn the computer off, 2. Unplug all extra peripherals connected to your computer i.e. printers, scanners, AIOs, web cameras, flash drivers, external hard drives, etc. 3. Turn the computer on, and as it boots up press +
From here onwards, it is a step-by-step, self-explanatory procedure to finish the DELL PC Restore

Well there are several ways to approach this, 1st you can use system restore, to take your system back to a date that it worked fine, to do that go to the start pearl in the search bar type in system restore, click the Icon for system restore it will give you a calendar with several restore points that your computer has saved along the way. your system will go back to those exact settings, now if this is a virus issue, that is beyond system restore then a complete factory default is in order. Depending on what type of computer you have some have build in restore partition that are build in your windows OS. if thats the case simply hit F8 during start up and choose repair your computer and them choose restore to factory condition, this will delete any files you have on your computer and restore it to out of the box condition. System restore will not delete your data but, often restore points themselves are corrupted, my recommendation is to back up your files and do a complete factory restore.
Hope this helps please feel free to ask any follow up questions you may have on this thread.
Take care :)
Ok, first, you are asking a very interesting question since you have Win7 HP 64bit, but you do not know how to reset to factory settings? First, why do you have a 64bit version of Win7? Most people pay a processing penalty for this, so I do not understand, unless you run Fourier Analysis on your screensaver :P My next issue is I am not sure what you mean by factory settings? Normally this means performing a full new install without data backup, etc... If I recall my Windows manual correctly, aside from backup/restore, which it does not sound like you have that setup, there is no other magic button to push to get to factory settings, unless of course you have a recovery disk and know your way around that. Sounds like a full install is warranted, you probably should make sure any data you have is backed up somewhere before doing that though, or you will lose it.
Instructions Things You'll Need: Acer PC or laptop Step 1: Click "Start" menu. Step 2: Click "Programs." Step 3: Click "Acer Recovery Management." Step 4: Click the "Restore" button on the bottom of the dialog box that opens. Step 5: Click "Restore System to Factory Default." Step 6: Click "Yes" in the warning dialog box which asks if you wish to continue the recovery process. Step 7: Click "Start" to restore the computer to the default factory settings. Tips & Warnings If you are unable to access the Start menu, use the recovery CDs that came with the computer or visit Acer's website (see Resources below). Always make a back-up CD before restoring a computer to factory defaults. Resources Acer Website
Unless you did a full system backup when after you loaded Windows 7 Home Premium, you will not be able to restore the system back to factory settings without losing W7HP.
Why are you trying to restore the laptop back to factory settings?
when you start your computer, press F8 while windows loads.
in next dialogue box click on NO to goto restore point, revert back to the restore point of the earliest date. You will get your factory setting back. if it does not work simply format get original version of windows format hard disk and reinstall windows.
If the malware is reinfecting your system, you really only have 3 choices: System Restore, Factory Restore or reinstall.
For System Restore, boot your system to Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly). Go to System Restore and choose a date when your system worked OK. Note: with System Restore, everything, including your documents and other files you saved on the hard drive, will roll back to that date.
Accessing Factory Restore (restores to the factory settings and will wipe out anything that you have installed or saved on your PC), is dependent on your hardware manufacturer. Boot your system and press F10, F11, Alt+F10, or Ctrl+F11 to access Factory Restore. Follow the prompts.
If still not resolved, you'll probably need to reinstall your operating system.
To restore your laptop to its previous or factory settings try using the system restore option. You can access the System Restore by navigating to Start--> All Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore. After opening the System Restore Tool you select this option " Restore computer to an earlier time". Then you can see the calender displaying the present month and some bold dates in it. You can go back to the month of the purchase your computer and then select one of the bold dates and click "Next". Then the system will restore and it re-starts on its own. A message will be displayed after Restoration is completed. Press "OK" . Thats it, your Computer is set in to Factory Settings. If you face any problem please let us know.
Thank youfor contacting Fixya.
For (Operating Systems=windows98,xp,vista)
unless you have a custom program to do this you can only restore back using (system restore) however that will not restore it to factory settings..
the best way is simply re-installing the Operating system after Formatting your entire Harddisk space (all partitions)
If you don't know how to do it.. then simple follow the instructions after booting the windows CD
PS: to boot windowsxp cd you have to set BIOS settings (F2 or F10 or Del Button at start of computer)
to boot CD before HDD..
There is no simple restore factory settings in Laptops
