Ok try and eject the disk, it might work then plug it into the tv with the scart lead not the hdmi ( if he is using hdmi) hold down the power button (on the consol not the controller) for a few seconds and it sould beep a few times. this resets the consol. then try turning it on if it doesnt work it sounds like a hard drive fault but dont panic 90% of these can be fixed in the house. remove the plate on the end of the consol where the hard drive is and remove the hard drive. (make sure the consol is off) then make sure the connections in the end are clean and dust free then replace it all. this usually sorts it. iff not you need a new hard drive. if you do decide to buy one dont be conned into buying a ps3 specific model as it is the same as any laptop hard drive. ( 2.5 inch) unfortunately he will loose his save data if this is the case but at least the consol will work

son was on internet on PS3 the night before and also left a disc loaded. The next day he switched it on and apart from the red light going to green and blue it won't play anything, That's all i know.
do any lights flash?? will it just not read disks??? will it not even turn on?
