On the Tecra 8100's, there are two common problems: (1) loose memory sockets (there is a pair of them behind the square door at the bottom) - which is most likely what you're experiencing. The memory is probably okay - just the sockets have become ... detached, either one or both. I would simply remove one chip, followed by the other or, if you only have one chip installed, move it to the other socket and see it makes a differenece. After that, it's a simple matter of getting the socket(s) fixed. I don't know who'd doing it out there, but it's a 3-minute job for me...

The other common problem is bad sound - it'll boot and act normal until it gets to play a sound - then it'll either slow to a standstill or just hang altogether. Don't think that's what you're going thru, tho.

Toshiba tekra 8100 on off knapp var finns den ?

> on off button where finds it?

The ON/OFF could a switch that "slides" about 50 mm,
or it could be a button with an 'I" inside a "circle".

The pictures at:

and:

http://www.pcarena.hu/pricelist/oriaskep/toshiba-tecra-8100-570.jpg

do not show any "button" on/near the keyboard.

The picture:

does not show any button on the back.

So, look for a "slider" or a "button" on the side(s) of the case.

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8100, and it won't start up. A few months ago, my charger for it broke since it was so old and dilapidated. I recently purchased a brand new replacement charger and hooked it up, but...

Try to replace the battery or take it out all together. but first check to make sure that the chager is the right one. Make sure it is one of these. http://www.battdepot.com/model/Toshiba/Tecra+8100.aspx?gclid=CObk4tjC4pwCFQMNDQodXid0Kw you can use this site to get an idea if you have the right one.

CPU Upgrade

You pulled the processor out of your laptop ... that was a brave move ... generally laptop boards are fully integrated so there is very few options on changing the processor ... also because of the extreme heating conditions the heat sink bonding is very critical ... make sure you replace this properly or you will have overheating issues in the future ...

Hibernation

Try holding the power button down for about 30 sec. then see if it will start.
If not remove the battery and the mains power (the power adapter) and wait about 5 min. then try starting.
