Question about Seagate 80GB Barracuda 7200.9 SATA s - 8MB Cache (5-pack) 80 GB IDE Hard Drive

1 Answer

Corrupted Program Hi Computer Experts! Good day! I have a Desktop PC with a 2.1Ghz AMD Athlon processor, a SATA ready motherboard with an 80Mb Seagate SATA Hard drive. Problem is my brother accidentally bumps the CPU tower, when he opens it, after the windowsXp welcome screen, a blue screen appears states bad_pool_caller, then it automatically shuts down after a few seconds, this cycle continuous that it goes shutting down as we open. I tried to fix it through my computer knowledge, as a tried to reformat my SATA hard drive but It can?t detect on the startup screen as well as in the BIOS setup. When I tab in the SATA RAID BIOS setup there appears a notice: ?The number of disks is not adequate to create a RAID!!!? What does this mean? I don?t have enough knowledge with SATA/RAID, Is my SATA disk corrupted? How can I just disable SATA controller and just used IDE channel. Please give me an option or advice. It will be greatly acknowledged! Thank you in advance! Jeff:// (Philippines)

My HDD will going to corrupt, so i need to buy one, but i don't know that which HDD is compatible with my AMD Athlon XP 2000 PC. Could any one suiggest that how much maximum capacity HDD Support my PC....

Hi,
Hard Disk upto 500GB capacity can be added to most of the PCs. As regards compatibility, first you have to check the motherboard for SATA Hard Disk interface as newer hard disks are SATA. Adding the hard disk has nothing to do with the processor. However, motherboard should have the connecting port/ option (such as SATA). Some motherboards support both IDE and SATA devices. Please check the motherboard for SATA Port. You may find the motherboard model/ system model and google a bit for its specification. (You have mentioned AMD Athlon XP 2000, which is the Processor not the motherboard)

If SATA is available on your motherboard, you may add Sata drives of 250-500-750GB drives according to you requirements. Otherwise you have to look for IDE hard Disk.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Processor update..

The problem with Store bought PCs is that there is no way to tell how fast a proccessor you can safely put into one before it becomes overclocking, but in theory your exact motherboard should support an AMD Athlon X2 5800+ 1000 Mhz FSB. Now if your willing to take a risk, you could buy a 6400+ but be warned, the computer may not recognize it, or it may just underclock the proccessor, if the processor supports 800 Mhz FSB. I said the 1000 Mhz FSB because it can underclock to that speed, and also because they no longer offer 800 Mhz flavors at the sites i order from. Hope that helps.

Need SATA drivers for Aspire M5100

Hi Byteguy, I believe I can help but I need more information, I believe you're looking for the SATA Controller driver, you probably won't find these from Acer. Does your computer have an Intel or ATI chipset? You'll likely find the driver from one of them.

You need the manual to your motherboard to set it up in the BIOS. http://www.biostar-usa.com/docsmain.asp In the drop down menu select M7NCD ULTRA. I hope this helps. Let me know.
