Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I cannot access my files from Turbotax that I completed the whole return and there is an application error ttax.exe. It says in the description:';The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on ok to terminate." I have rebooted the computer many times to no avail. Also I took the disk out and blew off any dust from 1 week of usage. I lost all the hours I spent on my taxes for nothing? What type of product is this? It sure isnt easy for me to use for the first time. Please help me recover the stuff to file with the IRS. That was my next step after printing out a copy to review the return. Well..this sounds like a clear example of a disk that needs a disk clean and defrag, and maybe a virus check..if you know how to do those, start now, if not, send an email to me, in my profile, and we can do a remote from Hawaii

Rundll32.exe errors typically occur in response to the inability of Windows to access an application, program or file as the result of a corrupted or missing DLL (Dynamic Link Library) file or in response to a rundll32.exe virus that has been designed to look like a normal Windows process.

Here are the easiest ways to fix rundll32.exe errors.
Click "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" on your computer's keyboard to open the Task Manager window.

Click the "Processes" tab and search for a rundll32.exe program.
If one is running and appears to be accessing a lot of your system's resources, click "End Process" as it is likely a malicious program and not a true Windows program.

Run software to seek out, detain and remove viruses, malware, spyware and adware. Often these malicious programs corrupt DLL files or cause them to be deleted or moved and, as mentioned, some rundll32.exe programs may in fact be viruses on your system.

Reboot your computer to update any changes you may have made recently to your files and programs.
Many programs and applications require a reboot for successful installation.

Uninstall a recently installed or changed program or application and then reinstall it using the default settings.

An installed program may not have loaded properly, an installation via the Internet may have been interrupted enough to create errors or the program may have a bug.

If you uninstalled a program and see a rundll32.exe error, reinstall the program and then uninstall once more.

Retain the services of a Microsoft certified technician, if all else fails, to review and fix your system's Registry.

Tip

Winxp Applications Startup Time, Decrease your Applications startup time...

By default, Microsoft includes the /prefetch:1 switch to speed up it's Windows Media Player application start time. This switch can be used for other Windows applications and also many third party programs.

Example #1

You have AOL installed on the computer. Complete the steps outlined below to add the /prefetch:1 switch to AOL's Target path.

1. Right Click on the AOL shortcut and select properties from the menu.

2. In the Target: Field add the /prefetch:1 switch to the very end of the path, like this: "C:\Program Files\America Online 8.0\aol.exe" /prefetch:1 and then click ok.

Now start AOL. It would load at least 50 times faster than ever before.

Example #2

1. Go to the Start butoon/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools

2. Right Click on System Restore and select properties from the menu that appears. Add the /prefetch:1 to the Target Path entry so it look like this
%ystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe /prefetch:1 and Click ok.

Now System Restore will start immediately when executed.

Note: This switch will only work with some programs. Others will return a message saying the programs. Others will return a message saying the program in the target box is invalid. Just remove the switch.

Good luck!

Werfault.exe -application error\r\n

You can try to disable this service by following the below steps:
Step 1: Open your computer's Control Panel by selecting "Start" > "Control Panel" from your computer's Start menu.
Step 2: Choose the "System and Maintenance" > "Problem Reports" menu option from the Control Panel menu.
Step 3: Select "Change Settings" > "Advanced Settings" from the Problem Reports program menu and turn off the automatic problem reporting feature in Windows.
Step 4: Exit the Problem Reporting application by selecting "File" > "Exit" from the File menu. Werfault.exe will now only run on your computer in the event of a catastrophic application problem.

If disabling the application does not work, y
ou should keep in mind that many malware programs can show up on your system as seemingly legitimate files by using file names that are very similar to those of legitimate files. Whenever you are in doubt about a particular file, always scan your system for viruses.

Down load adobe reader 9.3, i have 6 user on this computer, but on one of the user her reader get this error 1606 could not access network location %APPDATA%. WHAT DO I DO ABOUT THIS. OH I try reinstalling...

The program is trying to access the network from the application data file. You can try to copy and paste a working application data file to replace the application data file that is errant.
You can try this by going into your application data file that works and copying the whole adobe reader folder and then switching back to her data file and replace her adobe folder with your working copy. Good luck.

You can also try to find out what "network location" is not being accessed for one user and is for another.

You can also try making her an administrator just long enough to make the program work correctly.

Read through this I think it will help:-
Processes to be omitted for the Guard
All file accesses of processes in this list are excluded from monitoring by the Guard.
Input box
In this box you can enter the name of the process that is not included in the on-access
scan. No process is entered as the default setting. The names of the individual process
can most easily be obtained via the task manager. The "Processes" tab in the task
manager contains the names of all currently active processes. Select "your" process and
enter its name under "Image Name".
Note
You can enter up to 20 processes.
Warning:
Only the first 15 characters of the process name (including the file extension) are
considered. If there are 2 processes with the same name, Guard excludes both processes
from the monitoring.
Warning
Please note that all file accesses by processes recorded in the list are excluded from the
scan for viruses and unwanted programs! The Windows Explorer and the operating
system itself cannot be excluded. A corresponding entry in the list is ignored.
Add rule
With this button, you can add the process entered in the input box to the display
window.
Delete
With this button you can delete a selected process from the display window.
File objects to be omitted for the Guard
All file accesses to objects in this list are excluded from monitoring by the Guard.
Note
The entries on the list must not result more than 6000 characters in total.
Input box
In this box you can enter the name of the file object that is not included in the on-access
scan. No file object is entered as the default setting.
The button opens a window in which you can select the file object to be excluded.
Add rule
With this button, you can add the file object entered in the input box to the display
window.
Delete
With this button you can delete a selected file object from the display window.
Please observe the following points:
– The file name can only contain the wildcards * (any number of characters) and
? (a single character).
– Directory names must end with a backslash \, otherwise a file name is assumed.
– The list is processed from top to bottom.
– Individual file extensions can also be excluded (inclusive wildcards).
– If a directory is excluded, all its sub-directories are automatically also excluded.
– The longer the list is, the more processor time is required for processing the list
for each access. Therefore, keep the list as short as possible.
– In order to also exclude objects when they are accessed with short DOS file names
(DOS name convention 8.3), the relevant short file name must also be entered in
the list.
Note
A file name that contains wildcards may not be terminated with a backslash.
For example:
C:\Program Files\Application\applic*.exe\
This entry is not valid and not treated as an exception!
Note
In case of dynamic drives which are mounted as a directory on another drive, the alias of
the operating system for the integrated drive in the list of the exceptions has to be used:
e.g. \Device\HarddiskDmVolumes\PhysicalDmVolumes\BlockVolume1\
If you use the mount point itself, such as ‚C:\DynDrive’, the dynamic drive will
be scanned nonetheless. You can determine the alias of the operating system to be used
from the report file of Guard: Set the protocol function of the Guard to Complete in the
configuration under Guard :: Report. Now access the mounted drive with the activated
Guard. You can now read the drive name used from the report file of the Guard. The
report file can be accessed in Control Center under Local protection :: Guard.
Examples:
C:
C:\
C:\*.*
C:\*
*.exe
*.xl?
*.*
C:\Program Files\Application\application.exe
C:\Program Files\Application\applic*.exe
C:\Program Files\Application\applic*
C:\Program Files\Application\applic?????.e*
C:\Program Files\
C:\Program Files
C:\Program Files\Application\*.mdb
