After the attack of windows recovery virus, network adapter is not working. LAN icon in lower rightmost of desktop is not visible

Please reinstall your motherboards drivers from your driver installation disk. During healing or cleaning of the infected files, some of the files that your computer needs to have a lan has been lost or worst destroyed. So then reinstall your motherboard drivers or use system restore and restore your computer to an earlier time when you think it is working properly. Hope this would give you an idea.. Have a nice day friend ! :)

Ihave established that the motherboard in my `Time Computers` Tower has died! The Caps have exploded and even though I have replaced them I can no longer load up windows from the boot CD. It still hangs at...

Any replacement motherboard will require you to reinstall Windows, in order to load the correct device-drivers for the new motherboard.

So, visit a "small" computer-store -- often, they will have "pre-owned" motherboard/CPU combinations for sale, at a fraction of the price of a "new" motherboard/CPU.

Ask for something that will support the same type of RAM (PC133? DDR? DDR2?) that you have in your current motherboard.

My computer loads bios when cool but cannot succefully load windows without freezing up.

First thing to try is reinstalling windows, it may just be your OS causing the problem, but there are many other factors if that is not the one. It could be your mobo, CPU, memory, power supply, etc. Try the OS reinstall first and if that does not solve the problem, try messing with the hardware.

Actually the first thing you might want to try is press F8 during POST and get the screen that has the options SAFE MODE, etc. One option should read "last known good configuration" etc. try loading windows througyh that option to see if it works.

Computer keeps re-booting while installing any operating system

Were the two power supplies you tried inclusive of the original failed drive or not. In other words did you try a total a 3 power supplies including the one that failed?

If not, please do so. That is, immediately analyze the original known part failure, the power supply or its connection to the board(s) you have tried.

Congratulations for such an exhaustive process of elimination.

USB PORT NOT FUNCTIONING

does your machine make it to the windows login screen, or does it fail before.

I think you haven't installed you CPU correctly, or maybe did not put heat sink compund evenly on the heat sink, and that causes the CPU to overheat and freeze.

I'd try upgrading the bios with the working cpu and then try again.

Let me know what happens. I like the weird ones like this.
