I am a technician but have not done much work on Plasma's. I have one I started on today and any help would be appriciated.
It has one single horizontal white line on the picture about 1/3 of the way down from the top and then any changes in brightness level will give a vertical shadow (for lack of a better description). And all of this being digital the shadow is not solid but made up of (random) pixels.
I checked all the voltages and they are very close to the spec's stamped on the display. The problem happened all of a sudden, no symptoms leading up to it.
Any ideas?
Thanks

hello, I've watch your problem on youtube , that problem can be from main board. But to make sure main board problem, you should check without inputs first. Unplug all input (HDMI, Component, AV in, PC). Than turn on your tv again. If that conditions still appear, i suggest you to call samsung technician to repair it. Good luck.
I have the same problem on my set. I had a repair technician out today and they wanted to replace the circuit board that the buffers are connected to and the adjacent board that drives the buffers. If you remove the back panel the buffers that are in line with the distorted areas on the screen are running super hot. Estimated price with labor was $700.
I have the same problem, currently searching for a solution. Have you resolved your problem yet? Looking to repair myself, any tips or ideas that you have/expirenced would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Todd
I think you may have dry solder joints on the line output stage. If the solder joints are checked and found to be good then suspect a component on the line output stage or the line output transformer itself. If you can check these faults for yourself start with the solder joints otherwise find a competant technician. Hope this helps.

u should ask other tech. they might have another solutions.
And your tv is only 18 months old so ask ur company service man to repair it.. It might be in warranty period.
This is a very easy fix. Your cable box is not grounded correctly. To fix this you need a AC Plug adapter. This will change your TV ac plug from a 3 wire to a 2 wire. This may sound funny, but trust me on this. I have fix a lot of TV in NY doing just this.
