CD / DVD ROM detected

-   dvd-rw will not read most discs I put in. Machine just makes a pile of noises for a few minutes as if it is trying to read something but never does. Some times just putting the disc in will make windows shut down and turn the machine off. The odd time after much waiting a disc may work. These are discs that used to work so don't ask if I have been inserting correct format/kind etc. Most times I need to eject the disc manually with a paper clip into the release hole or the drive will just endlessly run but nothing happens. -   Guest
