Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Blew the fuse on my kenwood amplifier and i replaced it today with same exact fuse. still the amplifier won't work. it turns on and gives minimal power to the subwoofer but it cuts out whenever it tries to give a larger current to the sub. i was told that maybe it's in some kind of protection mode? i'm not too sure i disconnected all wires and let it sit for a few hours and still nothing. love my subwoofer.

hey lifedeath, is it a power amp driving the sub from the amps speaker outputs? I you have a multi meter, what does the sub impedance measure?

Can i get a virtual remote control anywhere for my kenwood stereo control amplifier kc-209

The first place to start looking for them is in the Kenwood website. Perhaps they may have a dozen of so working remotes for you. Give them an email and see if they can help you. I had a roller door garage and after 4 years of use, their cheap little remote stopped working. I emailed their website and they had a few in a spare box. Guess what? They gave me two for nothing. Kenwood could do that too. All it takes is hit on the website and email them. Cheer

Audio receiver sudden death

I would suggest not turning it up so loud the next time and post the model and manufacturer information so we can better help.

There may be fuses that blew, replace them but do so with the same type of fuse, going to a different fuse will probably destroy your unit the next time you turn the volume up.

Bose sa3 amp, blew a fuse in it, replaced it and now it won't power up. Nice little amp, would like to find out how to test out what is wrong and fix it

If you can, check with your multimeter to see if the two voltage rectifiers are good.If they are OK,you may need to replace the 2 audio amplifiers. This will require proper tools and good experience.

Changed to 6 olms and blew amplifier. Replaced fuse and fuse blew so I'm assuming its the amplifier. I was wondering if its worth getting fixed

The audio output section of your amp has damaged. It has shorted output components, and that is why the reinserted fuse blow up as soon as you switch it ON aftere replaceing it. A through check must be done with your amp. It is really a very skilled work, and done with caution. Whout any knolege in servicing hi-watt amps, one cannot set it right. Do not repalce any more fuse as it will damage more components.
I advice you to get this device repaired by any well experienced service technician, or by the authorised service center for Yamaha at your town.
All the output comonents may need repalcement. The set has damaged by overload created by low Oms speakers connected with. OK.

What shall do if my kenwood show me protect?

Hello. It could be helpful if you would give us the exact model number of the Kenwood product you have. Kenwood has made many products over the years. While it's unlikely, your Kenwood product could be the subject of a recall or repair for this problem.

If it is not, please start out by checking your speaker wiring. If you have a short or bad connection, this can cause the amplifier in your Kenwood product to shut down as a way of protecting itself.

Check your speakers as well. Make sure all of them work. Also check the impedance printed on the back of each speaker. Compare it to the ratings printed in the Kenwood manual.

If none of this helps, and you do not find a problem, your Kenwood product may require repair. "Protect" is how the microcontroller inside the receiver is trying to tell you that something is wrong and if the unit did not shut down, further damage could result.

Are 2 - 125V 5 amp fuse good enough to use just to check and see if this works...was working just fine. no wires i looking at a large problem?

Fuse rating would be written on circuit board fuse located, yet 5 amp fuse will work to test the receiver/ amplifier.
If fuse blew off again, then amplifier has problem either in power supply or amplifier output section.
Qualified Tech will fix it.

I replaced a fuse that had blown and since then the receiver will turn on but shuts off after a few secondes. From reading the online info they say I need to do a reinitializing procedure but I cannot...

The reason why the fuse blew out is because the amplifier itself is shorted out. It turns off because amplifiers are designed to do that when it's overloaded. It needs to be serviced by a technician.
