My Compaq FP 7317 has no sound. On the Sounds and Audio Devises Properties Volume "No Sound Device" is highlighted. At the bottom of that under Speaker Settings (use the setting below to change indivual speaker volume and other settings) the box Speaker Volume, Advance and Apply are not in Bold type, therefore when I click on them they will not open. Mute or Place volume Icon in the task bar are not checked. Please help.

A beep codes has different meaning. Depending on the number of beeps and the series of short or long beeps.
But most frequently, a beeps were heard when a video card and or memory card is loosened. You may need to remove it from the motherboard and reseat them properly on the slot of the motherboard. Just remember when you do it computer must be off.
check audio pin is inserted properly or not check whether mute mode is selected check that only one player is not working or same check audio drivers are installed properly or not .If all above are ok then speakers are faulty you have to replace it
Try going into device manager click start then control panel then system they hardware then device manager if there is a yellow !mark next to sound then use the properties tab to reinstall the the driver Hope this helps
Hello Yellowbones.. First off.. are you sure your cable is plugged into the appropriate jack on the back of your computer? If it is.. then do you have a spare set of speakers that you can plug into that jack to determine if it is teh speakers or the sound card? If you have a set of other speakers, try that first so we can confirm that it is a problem from your ausio driver versus the speaker set itself.. On the assumption that the sound card is the blame.. You may want to verify that hardware is working properly. You shopuld be able to go into the control panel from the Start menu and find Sounds and Audio Device menu.. once you have that.. make sure you do not have your system set to Mute... and then you can select the hardware tab and find your sound card device in the listing.. once you highlight that, it should tell you if your device is working properly or not.. and give you a troubleshooting tab to walk you thru some diagnostics.. You may also select the driver tab and update the driver for your card to see if that resloves the problem too.
