My ipod stopped working

It fell and hit a cd very lighty on now a cannot get it to come on

Hi. Just recently purchased a Nano Ipod look alike 4 GB MP3 and video player on ebay last month. Seller had great feedbacks so took the risk to buy a bargain. Recently it stopped working and will not turn on or even charge...am I out of luck and should I go out and get the "real deal" or could it just be a bad battery or minor thing that can be troubleshooted? Thanks for any help,
Janet :)

Orr, if you go to http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/nano2gen/, and follow those steps, you may find the answer. the same thing happened to me, so i left it a few days and tried everything they asked for, and it eventually worked!

Memory loss on ipod

The ipod nanos the smallest product in the Apple iPod line. The fourth generation Nano comes in two different capacities, each capable of holding thousands of songs.
    Capacities
  1. The fourth generation iPod Nano comes in 8 GB and 16 GB models. The 8 GB version can hold 2,000 songs, and the 16 GB version can hold 4,000 songs.
  2. Tips
  3. Song capacity estimates are based on music encoded in Apple's proprietary format at a standard, average bitrate. The higher the bitrate, the better the quality. Songs deviating from Apple's standard (for example, CD-quality music or high bitrate MP3s) will use more disk space.
  4. History
  5. Nano's predecessor, the iPod Mini, was released on January 6, 2004, and was available with a 4 GB hard drive. The Nano was first released on September 7, 2005, and was the first iPod to use flash memory. It was first available in 2 GB and 4 GB versions. The fourth generation Nano was released on September 9, 2008.
  6. Size
  7. The fourth generation iPod Nano is 3.6" tall and 1.5" wide.
  8. Video
  9. The third generation Nano, released on September 5, 2007, was the first Nano to feature video playback. Storing videos on Nano can dramatically reduce the amount of songs it can hold.

Regarding ipod nano 4 gb

You don't need a cd for it. It will install the drivers for you. You should install Itunes to get it up an running. It's available for download at apple.com. The software is free to use. This will manage your Ipod for playback.

IPod Nano 4 GB -- what gen?

Hello,
If you have the Nano with the smaller screen measuring 1" x 1.25" and got it 3 years ago, you most likely have the 2nd generation. Apple doesn't really have cases on their site for the older nano. I have the same one and purchased my case at Target. They have a good selection of 3rd party (non-Apple branded) cases. You can also check an Apple store if you have one close by.
Hope this was helpful.
Have a great day
