Re: frigidaire single oven broiling
The pan and it's grid is all you need, The broiler pan and it grid allow dripping grease to drain and be kept away from the high heat of the broiler. DO NOT use the pan without its grid. DO NOT cover the grid with foil. Some helpful info.. Preheating is suggested when searing rare steaks. Broil on side until the food is browned; turn and cook on the second side. Broiling times vary, so watch the food closely. Time not only depends on the distance from element, but on the thickness and aging of meat, fat content and doneness preferred. The first side usually requires a few minutes longer than second. BE SURE THE DOOR IS OPEN AN INCH OR TWO WHILE BROILING

The broil pan is used to broil meats such as steak or chops. the top part has slots that allow the grease to run into the lower part. they are usually under the burner in the lower door. but some ovens have the broil element in the oven proper. then the pan should be placed within a few inches of the broil element. You should monitor the cooking process because the broiler heats the food very quickly and could burn very fast.
Hello - - If you are referring to the bake element, but the broil element works then you would need to just replace the bake element. If both your bake and broil element does not work, then there might be a problem with the wiring communication. However, if the oven does not bake and/or broil but the cook top works; contact a professional to diagnose the EOC (electronic oven control).

Unplug the oven. Remove the oven racks. Remove the bake element. Be careful and not let the wires fall back into the holes when you remove them from the element. Use a volt/ohm meter set for ohms or continuity to check the broil element terminals. No reading is a bad element. If no reading replace the element. If the element is good the control panel will have to be opened to check for power from the electronic control to the element. Re-attach the broil element. Access the control module for testing. At this point you will be working with live high voltage. Turn the power back on. If you are not comfortable with that please call a service technician. If you want to do it,locate the broil out put wire and the neutral wire on the control. Set the control for broil, place your meter leads on broil and "N". No reading is a bad control module. A good voltage reading will be a bad wire to the broil element.
its not the thermostat most of the time you can look at the element and see if its bad un less a wire is burned off behind or has come off behind the wall of the oven where the element is you can turn off the breaker to the oven off remove the two screws pull the element foward remove one of the wires to the element and check it with an ohm meter to make sure its bad and some ovens have a vari broil feature but most times they just run full bozo consult your owners manuel to see about yours if you dont have a manuel can get one here http://www.frigidaire.com/support/manuals.asp
