I'd like to run my elura 100 camcorder with a cigarette lighter connection to save on batteries and for use on longer flights in a private aircraft.

Cosmiccene: First apologies for not replying sooner. I was off the circuit for too many months. I appreciate your feedback and others have also suggested this route. My problem is very very limited space in the cockpit of this small sports plane, so it is something I am still thinking about. I suspect in the end yours will be my only real option though. Good advice and I thank you very much.

John, if you need to do that you need to get a voltage converter with a wide input range like (10 to 16volts) and an output voltage of 7.5volts which the camcorder requires.

You can even make one if your are an electronics buff. Let me know if you need any help on that.

I have a Canon elura 100 camcorder miniDV it has was everyone tells me is a firewire cable to connect to my pc. I have several pc and laptops but not one has a connection to connect this cable to them. ...

Most Windows PCs have USB ports, but no Firewire port. As they do not come with this interface, you need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card into one of the PCI bus expansion slots. You can buy these cards cheaply from eBay or Amazon. They will come with a driver for the card.

Of course, this only works with desktop computers, laptops or notebooks cannot be expanded in this way.

Canon Elura 60 won't power up

The same thing happened to mine soon after I got it. Turned out the plug I was using to plug it into the wall to charge had gone bad. The replacement was over $100 so I went with a (cheaper) wall battery charger that you conect the battery to.

Canon Elura 100 Power Dead

Just an update.
I sent it back to the factory - and they fixed the power unit.
However, they told me that now my Memory card and memory card operations will not work.
They did not charge me for it - they took it under warranty.
Everything else seems to be working.
