Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

My refrigerator Model GTS18FCSARww , Serial #FM754423 - is making usually loud noises at times. At one point, I cut the refrigerator off overnight for fear it might cause a fire. This extremely loud noise has happened several times. This appliance is still under warranty. Will you either repair it or replace it? Thank you. Repair it if it is under warranty UNLESS you can go without a fridge for a couple of days before they get you a new one.

I have been trying to call you on the number you posted. The line has been busy. If you still have the warranty information on the refrigerator from the store in which you purchased it, check that info. Most stores only offer a 90 warranty on appliances with a 1 year maufacturers warranty. If you bought the extended plan from a store such as Best Buy, check with them on replacement or service. Otherwise, you will need to contact your refridgerator's maufacturer for replacement information. I shall try to call you at this number again shortly to speak with you about the problem. Please be careful posting personal information such as your address and or phone number over the internet on a private or public domain such as Fixya. TY and have a wonderful day.

Wine cooler cools but has a very loud, too loud to ignore, whirring sound when it is in cooling mode. Any ideas?

And when the wine is cooled ... the noise stops?
It's like a refrigerator ... it only operates when it it is reducing temperatures. Once things have cooled, the system cuts out.

If your wine cooler stops making a noise when the wine is cooled ..ok.

Hello,

The noise i suspect is coming from one of the 2 fans...if you hear the noise coming from inside the freezer it will be that fan thats noisy and if from down by the compressor that will the fan thats noisy. the part numbers for the fans are

fan in the freezer (evaprator fan) WR60X10185

fan by the compressor (condenser fan) WR60X10220

They could be purchased from your local appliance parts store or online at,

GE Model PSC23SGRC SS Serial #RH418861. Refrigerator make a howling noise Dave eci.david@gmail.com

I suggest a defrost with doors open over night, what often happens with this model is that you get an ice build up near the fan which causes an extremly loud noise, very common problem.

Beeping sound coming from control panel model#10656562400

Hi!
Self-defrosting refrigerators use a circulating fan to move the air through the freezer and refrigerator compartments. This fan runs whenever the unit is cooling. The fan is located in the freezer.
Over time, the fan may become noisy--usually making a chirping or squealing sound, though it may make a loud groaning noise instead.

To find out if the fan is causing the noise, just open the freezer door and push any fan/light switches. If the noise is louder when the door is open, the evaporator fan motor is the cause which can't be lubricated or repair instead required to be replaced.

Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Frig makes a very loud booming noise/ratteling what is the cause?

The noise is coming from the compressor and is a result of a broken support spring inside the compressor. When the unit shuts down, the inner casing rattles against the outer casing because the spring is not there to keep them apart. The only fix is to replace the compressor but otherwise it is just bothersome.
