Question about Computers & Internet

I have a motorola XTS2500I Digital radio through my fire dept. I have the software to program the radios but my problem is that the computer can't read the radio. I have tried all the USB ports with the ribless programming cable and I get the same error.

The "too fast" computer in rubbish. Especialy condsidering the CPS v12 (and now v13) runs on Vista.

(Not sure why someone whould give you the software and cable to do this yourself)

My first question is what type of cable are you using? Is it a real Motorola cable or a $25 eBay special? I have NO issues when I use the Motorola cable on ANY speed computer programming my xts2500/5000. I do have issues when I do try using the eBay special. Seems to always work on any IBM Laptop but has issues on several other makes models.

The XTS Series of radios are very professional - the person responsible for programming your "Fire Radios" was obviously successful - or you wouldn't have one assigned to you. My advice is that you get that person to make the changes you are looking to make. I suspect your version of software is older than the version currently in the radio - and if you had a real reason to have this software, you would have a valid subscription - and hence, the most up-to-date version. Just exactly what are you trying to change on your radio? Are they authorized changes?

Those are the main questions I would be posing.....

This is a discontinued radio from Motorola. programming requires a cable to connect to a computer, there is no direct programming available.
While this is not really an answer, the programming software is specific to Motorola and you need to buy both the software and the cables from Motorola.
you would be better served, to determine what frequencies you want and then pay a certified Motorola dealer who has the software to do the work for you.

I have purchased a second hand set of Motorola xtnid radios, the old company's name is still displayed in the screen when I first switch it on, how do I remove it ?

Depending on the radio, mots Motorola business radios are programmed with a computer and a cable that attaches the radio to the computer, or a programming RIB. This all depends on the age and model of the radio, but since you said that a companies name appears in the display, I am pretty sure it is a business band radio that has to be professionally programmed. I say professionally because even if you have everything you needed to program the radio, I sincerely doubt that you will be able to do it. Motorola software is called CPS, but then again, it depends on the age of the radio, newer Mototurbo XPR radios use a much newer software, and they interface to the computer in a different way, that is without the use of a programming RIB. A RIB is a box that goes between the radio and the computer, newer radios only need a simple USB cable that is made to mate the radio to a uSB port.

Programming software for motorola GM300

Software from Motorola costs money. Yes, it is DOS based because this is an old radio. You buy the software, a RIB (radio interface box) and then a cable to plug into the radio. You must have a computer that has a serial port. Older, slow computers work best. Or you can call around for a radio shop that has this capabilty, avoiding all the costs and assuring you are programmed onto legal frequencies in your area. This avoids possible fines from the FCC.

Hi I have been given a motorola XTS2500I to use for work and am wondering how to turn on the back light display . Thank you Bill

The back lighting ON/OFF can be programmed to any of the side programmable buttons, but this requires the Motorola Astro25 programming software, programming cable, and windows PC. I would check in your local area for a authorized motorola dealer and ask them to do it. Programming literally takes 3 mins and shouldn't cost much, if anything at all. I do this all the time for the law enforcement in my area.

I want enter new frequencies into my motorola gp339,dont know how to do it.i was given the radio with no booklet a firefighter and want to put fire (FESA wa) Frequencies in my Radio..

Programming the radio requires a special cable and programming software. The cables aren't difficult to find, but you can't legitimately get the software unless you buy it from Motorola. They're pretty quick to go after sites that distribute their software. The versions of programming software available on the Web are sometimes buggy or older versions, and often the radios won't accept programming from older versions of software than they were originally set up with.

The easiest way to get your radio programmed is to check with an authorized Motorola dealer or service center. They'll have the necessary equipment to do the job right and will probably give you some kind of warranty on the work as well.

How do i program my motorola mts 2000 flashport scanner

Your Motorola MTS2000 is not a scanner but a high-end two-way radio. It requires a computer, special interface box (called a RIB, for Radio Interface Box), the proper cable from the radio to the RIB, and the programming software called RSS (Radio Service Software.)

This is much more difficult than a scanner to program and if not done properly can cause the radio to automatically transmit on frequencies that you are not authorized to use.

Try calling your local Motorola dealer and ask them if they will program it for you for receiving only. They will either flatly refuse or they will be happy to charge you a service fee. Some places are more willing than others.

How to retune a p210 i have 2 but they dont communicate with each other i need them to be on simplex and the same frequency thanks bruce

The P210 is a dealer programmable radio. It requires Motorola proprietary software, a RIB (radio interface box) and programming cable. The computer used to program the radio must be the same vintage as the radio. Newer computers are too fast for the processor in the P210. Most Motorola dealers would be able to assist you in programming and retuning the radio.

Best regards.

MT 2000 800mhz programming

The 800MHz MT2000 software can only be purchased from Motorola and you can not purchase it unless you are the owner of the 800MHz Site or a Motorola Dealler that sales system radios. Your Local motorola dealer will program the radio for you but you must have written permission from whom ever is in charge of that system.
