You can try to check if the problem is near flyback transformer
you ha to disconnect the power cord , open tv and locate power
transistor for generate high voltage it is near the big four connector
cable the transistore you have to dissolder from board and check
with multimeter if it is shorted or not in this way base to collector
junction about 500 or more base emitter the same  collector to emittor open - delfo

Why did my rca tv model 4033 stop displaying picture but has sound?

Hi. There are many possible causes for this. No horizontal scan, due to lack of supply to this stage, no drive to the horizontal final. If there is High voltage.(25-28 kV) (you should feel some static, while rubbing the back of you hand over the screen) the g2 voltage of the picture tube might be low or zero. Another cause may be that the heaters (filaments) from the picture tube are off due to a bad soldering on the crt socket.(happens frequently)
More complicated are faults in the video drive itself. (need a scope).
If there is no video signal drive at all, the g1 voltages are high (150-200 volt), so you crt is in cut-off, hence remaining dark.
Try to play a DVD. If you then have picture, there is a problem with the vido signal at normal reception . Lacking, or not routed to the video output stages.
On must be a skilled TV technician to find out why the screen is off.
Good luck anyway.

Philips tv model 21PT5006/71 no raster/picture/sound, no indicator w/ 110 volts

It sounds that there is some shorted component/s in its horizontal output circuit. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair. Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock! Instead, contact the nearest service center.

Hello Tom Helton,
Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!
To answer your question: A television Professional will need to run through the gambit of tests on this television with a Volt-Meter and Osilliscope. Each resistor, transistor, capacitor, and soldier joint will have to be checked for failures. This is the only way to ensure if the television is salvageable. But it will cost at least $150 for diagnostics, then add on parts, and lastly, the repair labor cost. You could be looking at between $250.00 and $350.00 for the repair costs.I wish you the best with your decision between repair or replacement.
Have a great day!

Sony wega-ha21m80 problem no picture reterc line ok sound

I THINK YOU MEAN RETRACE LINE. if your tv has retrace line the video amp circuit should be checked its a transistor or in other cases its a IC replace either of them.if its an transistor on circuit voltage measurements shoutld be 2.4 volts from the emitter amd 2.8 volts on the base.can also be a faulty inductor..good luck.if you are not a tech have a tech repair your tv.

Picture "wobbled" and set turned off. Set will not turn on.

This TV may turn back on, if you let it set for a few days or week unplugged. Then plug in and see if it will try to start. If that is the case you have one or two bad capacitors. Look for values in this range....160 volts to 250 volts at 1 mf to 4.7Mf. Theses will certainly go bad. And suspect any of those that may be 16volts to 35 volts at 100Mf.You said you have a good fuse, correct? Also check out any bad grounds under the flyback transformer, power resistors and ICs mounted on heatsinks. You may have another fuse, please check again for a second fuse. If the fuse is blown, you have a problem that may cost more than your TV is worth. Remember this TV may have a lot of miles on it! Thanks for asking!

Sony kv35s26 TV: no picture, audio works, stanby light blinks.

First a couple of questions:

1) Does the standby light blink continuously or is there a repeating pattern?

2) If there is a pattern, can you please post the blink count?

With the above information, I should be able to provide you with a couple of possibilities as well as a few tests to perform. Please update this and we'll continue to try and resolve this.

Sony trinitron model 32S22

Hello RENE1223,

This problem is related to the HV section of the TV or the picture . The fact that you have sound means that the power supply is working and this means that the HV section is partially working. You can not repair this yourself, because you will need to test points where the voltage can reach 40KV that is 40,000 volts. I would suggest that you take the TV to a qualified TV repair shop.

I hope this helps
Thank you,

Red-Orange Screen

If the screen flashed when the TV made a popping sound, then I would suspect an intermittent heater to cathode short in the picture tube. When this happens, it usually takes out one to three output IC packs located on the CRT drive board. Even if you replaced the defective output packs which are soldered in and attached to metal heat sinks to restore the picture, the CRT could short again and redo the damage. For a 20 inch screen it is probably not worth repairing.
