Question about Sylvania 6842PE 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

Open Question

No power up on Sylvania 6842pem and your previous post.

Hello, With reference to; http://www.fixya.com/support/t138717-no_power_up I have the same problem that this user was having but I can not make sense of what is being reffered to in the post. I found and replaced the blown Cap but I could not find the one inch sqaure IC's being reffered to. I have a model 6842pe m. The sticker on the board reads LO652MSS. On the upper right left hand corner of the board it reads E234498 over L0650UA. I have the typical issue as described in the forum. when I turn on the TV it drops into standby mode after about 3 seconds. There is a flashing green LED (D2500) on the left side of the board and a relay clicks on the board when it goes into standby. There also appears to be a slight high pitch buzzing sound coming from the sub power supply board. I am reading 120 volts going to and coming from the sub board.

Any help would be much appreciated. Rick Riccardo_cardona@yahoo.com You posted;

You actually lost a scan ic.Looking from the back,look at small vertical boards coming off the main y sus board.The ic's are about 1 inch square.Look for a small hole in one.Depending on the panel you might be able to replace the ic as an assy.

This RadioShack capacitor is no good - too low a voltage rating. Try replacing it with this one, or something with the same values:

This fix worked for me. Best of luck

I put the fuse in my sylvania lcd tv the fuse blow when i plug it up

You should replace the power supply module instead of trying to troubleshoot it down to component level, it may have shorted out bridge rectifier, shorted power MOSFET, etc.

Sylvania LC420SS8 LCD set will not power up, no lights nothing, tried different plug ins no luck.

The power supply may have gone out, you need to check the main AC fuse in the power supply module and also check the caps.

My Sylvania HDTV is in a standby mode. Can you tell me what could be the problem. The power will not come on.

Most problems are due to bad DC filter caps in the power supply module, that will be the first place to look.

your transformer on your power supply is bad, i would recomend replacing the power supply, usually when the transformer goes bad , it damages other things on the board, should be around a 200$ part
