Well overall the tv isn't too reliable but perhaps you have the input on comp(vga) if you do that it says no signal and shuts off, try changing the channel by click either the channel up or down button, or just press the input button.
that would be the easy fix, or your tv is just broken like so many others, myself included

Hi, We have a Panasonic Viera Plasma TV. The TV was on when all of a sudden we heard a few clicking noises and then the picture was lost and a 'no signal' message was displayed. We tried other channels...

It sounds like you have taken the steps to isolate the problem to the TV. it seems to be a bad tuner on the Main board. The no signal displayed indicates the TV is otherwise okay. If you have a DVD player or other source you can connect, and you get a picture, then your TV has a bad tuner for sure.

'no signal input'

D-Sub is usually used for input from a computer, make sure the TV's input source is set to Analogue or Digital (or DTV) as it seems to be set to accept input from a computer, if you do not have a computer connected, then this is why it is complaining of no signal. It will not automatically defer to normal TV without being told to do so, have a look in the manual, or guess around the remote control to change the source of the signal.

How do I get my HDMI ports to read 1080i instead of DVI?

The question really doesn't make sense. That's because 1080i is a signal resolution, and DVI is the connection cable that carries the signal. The two things are connected, but different.

It sounds as if your TV is searching for a signal; looking first at the HDMI input, and then the DVI input, before giving up because it found no signal.

Your next question should add some detail about the makes and models of the equipment involved and how you have them connected.

When I turn my TV on, it comes on and says 'no signal' then after about 5 seconds, automatically switches its self off... any idea why?

Most sets will shut down very fast if no signal at all.

If you can before it shuts off try to change input to one of the rear audio video inputs that has something connected to it and turned on.

Failing there and if using a box of some type for signal--unplug it and the set both for a while---plug back both and let each try to boot up.

A total loss of signal or a glitch with the set or a box can confuse the TV set's Microprocessor.

Do you have the correct remote for this tv ?
If it is correct you can do a quick check to see if it is putting out a signal. Turn on a digital camera and point the remote at the lens. Press the power button and others on the remote and watch for a flash on the camera lcd screen.
Check that the input signal cable on the back is on the correct socket. Disconnect the unused input cables.
Go into the menu and set the input signal source to match the connection on the back.
Scan in the stations.
(There may be signal interference causing the problem)
