Factory reset of X4500

Hi Jeremy,

I see that you have helped previously with the Lexmark X4500 MFP.

I have just been donated one and wondered if you could tell me how to perform a factory reset of the unit. The Administrator user/pass has been set and nobody knows what they are.

I hope you can help, and also I found your previous posts on the X4500 very helpful and I will be updating the firmware to 1.09 as soon as I have Admin rights.

Mark.

    Hi
you can try to refresh the hard disk by entering # instead of green burtton after 411.
Reset the NVRam (non volatlie) and the network configuration.

    "**411 -> 4 -> 1 then the green go button"

What does that mean? do I press each of those buttons in sequence using the keypad to the right of the touchscreen? If so, when? I've tried this during the boot process, tried it during the loading bar titled "Initializing", but it doesn't seem to do anything.

    Would you please clarify? Thanks!

I turn on my X4500 scanner, It begins the inialization, gets to 100% and just sits there. It does not progress any further.

Usually that's a network problem, try doing a factory default of the network base hold the right and the check button "go" button til you see the menu for maintenance then look for network restore part, do a factory default of the network and then restart the scanner again after the printer starts up again

should be good to go

The touchscreen does not respond to touch

Try these steps:
  1. Turn Printer Off
  2. Turn the power on and immediately press 1 or 2 repeatedly.Continue until the following message appears:Press the # button to perform disk maintenance (35+ minutes). Otherwise, press the green start button to continue.
  3. Press # to begin the disk refresh process. This process may take as more than 30 minutes, but frequently only takes 10-15minutes. A message will appear on the screen indicating the refresh is in progress.
If problem continues:
  1. Try dial **411
  2. Select 4 MFP settings
  3. Select 1 Restore Factory Defaults
If still problem continues, I strongly suggest you contact Lexmark technical support or an authorized service provider for further assistance. Thank you for choosing Lexmark.
