Question about Dell Inspiron 2200 PC Notebook

3 Answers

Booting Hello, When I turned on my Dell Inspiron 2200 Notebook, windows doesnt load and it says "no bootable devices found." When I pressed F2 to access the hard drive but I can't because theres a password on it which I dont remember. I tightened, removed and put it just to make sure its well installed but its not working. I pressed Fn to run the diagnosis test, it says no drive detected. So I bought a hard drive and it still does the same thing. I want to know if I buy and operating systm CD, will solve the issue? and will I also need to load new windows?

A few of weeks ago the experience that forgot windows password happened to me. My workmate advise me to think about utilization of Window Password Seeker, that is extremely smart and just take me a short time to reset a newly password.

If you have verified the hard drive ribbon-cable is plugged in solid at both ends, then you may need a new ribbon-cable.. They only cost a few buckss. Otherwise your motherboard may have problems.

Not booting from usb

In inspiron 2200 shut down the system then restart and when you see the Dell logo tap F2 key. You will goto BIOS. In BIOS go under SYSTEM and then goto BOOT SEQUENCE. Then make sure that USB STORAGE device is at 1. position. You can modifiy this by highlighting the first option and press enter and then use + or - keys to change or look at the very bottom of screen to see how to change the value. Once USB storage device is in first position of boot sequence then on the left hand side of main menu goto POST BEHAVIOUR and expand it. Then goto US emulation and make sure it is enabled (ON) if not then make it on. Then save and exit the BIOS .Now make sure your USB device is connected Then restart the system andsoon as you see the Dell logo tap F12 . Now choose USB from the boot sequence and it will boot form USB device (If that USB device has bootable files)

Hello mi problem is wen i turn on mi lapton dell ispiron 2200 apear no bootable devices strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for set up utility, wath i can do? windows xp

Your hard drive's Master Boot Record might be the problem. If it was corrupted then the bios will not see a bootable hard drive.

Three things you have to do in order to solve this.

1. purchase a 2.5" external enclosure, remove the hard drive and put it in there.
2. purchase another 2.5" hard drive for the laptop and reinstall Windows.
3. once the reinstall is done, plug the enclosure into the laptop by the usb cable and copy your data to the new hard drive.

My dell inspiron loads the dell logo but wont go any further

When the logo appears press F2 immediately and you will get into BIOS settings. Check to make sure that under BOOT DEVICE or DRIVE CONFIGURATION that a hard drive is listed. If it is then listen when you turn the laptop on that the drive is making some sound.
The drive may be bad but it also may have a corrupt start up file which can often be repaired using an install CD.
If you have important data you want to save, I recommend you get the drive out of the computer and use a portable back up drive case/connector to transfer the data to another computer. If the drive is just beginning to fail, this may be your last chance to save important data.
Let me know if I can be of additional help.
