It will depend upon individual viewing taste. Yet, contrast 65%; Brightness 50 to 60% and color 30 to 45% will give a satisfactory picture. https://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Cable damage is the first thing to check. If the cable is external this is an easy check by trying a new one. Otherwise it is probably internal cable damage or damage to the video output plug.
Try turning colour correction OFF. (button in up position). See what affect the iris control has. This control will changed the color of the slide from deep red at nearly closed to washed-out blue and white. at full open. I adjust the controls for each slide. The color temperature of the 8549 lamp varies with the brightness. lower level warmer, higher cooler.
whats the exact colour like? what have you hookup to the tv. try changing the colour from the menu options. turn off the dynamic contrast. check on pix2. if you have a cable box use the 4.3 resolution
set my one like this:
picture mode=User1, contrast=60, Brightness=60, colour=30, sharpness=100, tint=standard setting.
colour temp.=cool, XD: contrast=off, colour=off, xdnr=high, mpeg nr=15.
Used gold plated scart for dvd & sky, picture looks pretty good, have not tried hd yet. Initial settings when first switched on were **** but with some tweaking have got good results. You probably have it set up pretty good now but just got mine & thought I would post this anyway.
Same problem with an older JVC player. One end of the S-video cable was loose. Pushed in in tight and everything ok again. Cheap fix if it works for you.
I have default settings I normally use for most sets before I begin any kind of alingment.
Contrast: 90%
Brightness: 45%
Color: 45%
Tint: 50%
If the brightness is to high or the contrast to low the color is off.
Check your connections, there probably OK, but, it never hurts.
If the settings don't help call a local authorized servicer in your area.
Hope this helps.
