Zd8000 Trouble...Again (power)

Previous problem http://www.fixya.com/support/t441684-power_problem
I finally got my new power adapter and have discovered a whole new problem. First off, I've done all of the RAM resets, taken out the battery etc. etc. as recommended by HP and still no go. Whats happening now is i'm getting the power light on the front of the computer but when I try to power on, the battery indicater light flashes three times, then nothing. Also, if I have to send it in, how long does HP normally take to fix it and send it back? Any help is appreciated.

I have the same exact problem. My buddy put it in standby mode lastnight and we have not been able to turn it back on yet. When we push power button the indicator falshes three times and nothing. I beleive it is fully charged. We have taken out the battery and tried starting. Just can't seem to get it out of stanby mode?

    Same problem

  • Anonymous Oct 03, 2008

When my hp zd8000 is plugged in (ac) the computer works fine with no interrupts etc. BUT... when I run soley on the battery the computer sporatically turns off and immediately back on as if it was just "restarted". Even if it is just less than 1 minute of running on battery power alone. I hate to have to spend $$$$ lots of $$$$ for a new battery if it is not the battery but something else. The battery appears to charge properly and hold its charge properly but when the computer is run on a fully charged battery it continues to suddenly

shutdown and restart abruptly. Any help would be appreciated.

There is probably a series of beeps when doing the ram resets. Try taking out the harddrive, then turn it on and off, then installing the harddrive back into the laptop. Doing this will get the laptop to recognize the harddrive. Hp will run a diagnostics check and then your problem will be fixed also. How long depends on the shipping.

I found a FIX! As it turns out my wife kind of figured this one out. She noticed that the battery pack was still in my backpack and someone had hooked up her battery pack to my ZD8000. My ZD8000 takes alot more juice than her laptop, which is HP also. But the same light flashed three times on the front. When I used the right battery pack it turned right on.

Hi,
If you were getting the error message that the computer was overheating, you were lucky that it kept on going still . I would suggest to get the chassis fan replaced and then check. Most likely the chassis fan has died leading to the computer not starting .The extended overheating might even have caused a motherboard failure. As the AC adapter and power button light flickers

Thanks for using Fixya

HP pavilion zd8000 start-up problem.

Try to unplug all the PCI cards and boot, if its still doing it check the ram. If its still doing it check to see if the power supply is good. If all that fails, It could be eather a bad mother board or bad processor.
