Relay clicking, not cooling either side

Fridge started clicking a couple of days ago, noticed that it maybe wasn't cooling as well as it should be. today confirmed that it was warming up so pulled all of the food out and started troubleshooting. relay on the main pcb is clicking, compressor not coming on. stops clicking if you press the ice/water dispenser lever. compressor comes on if I disconnect the lower middle connector from the upper portion of the pcb, but looks like the fans aren't working inside the fridge to circulate air.

looking inside the freezer when relay clicks, the fan bumps a little but doesn't start spinning.

front panel water doesn't work either, but that's small potatoes if the whole fridge is borked.

my hotpoint fridge is only 2 years old...yesterday noticed both sides not cooling well.freezer stuff thawing. took everything out. then came back on and cooled again...did it again hours later. Ice maker and water was not working. This morning noticed "clicking noise" from back when not blowing cool air. Staying cool now But ice maker and water still not working and clicking stops when trying to get water or ice.

I have same problem, with the same M.O. Also noticed that if you take the bulb out the clicking will start and when you put it back in the clicking wll stop and compressor will try to run but cuts off immediately.

Check you paperwork , and manual. sounds like a compressor issue, which "should" be covered by 5 year manufacture warr. reason i say "should" is hte warr's all changed jan1/06. only one year form there . but check your manual itll have the warr info in it

    Same problem.
    Started with a clicking noise.
The dispenser light will dim when I pressed the water or ice button.
    water will dispense sometimes.
    ice cubes stopped dispensing.
The clicking noise will stop and start a few hours later.
Now both sides (freezer and fridge) stopped cooling.

FRS26R4CB0-Freezer not freezing and Fridge not getting Cool

Hi Candi,

I don't know this model but most friges are the same,
Check on the bottom back, there should be a radiator with a small fan
installed.

If the fan is not working this maybe your problem,
It is not colling the gas.

You also may have a gas leak or the gas compressor is not working
or starting to work because of a faulty capcacitor.

We had a new oven put in 2 days ago, and the installer turned off the circuit breakers. Ever since he turned it back on my side by side has been making a clicking noise (like a relay). Then it will hum...

Remove the bottom front panel of the fridge and locate the defrost timer. This is a small circular motor with a screw slot in the center. Turn the slot CLOCKWISE ONLY and listen for a click. As soon as you hear the click stop, wait about five minutes and feel the walls of the freezer they should now be cold.If this happens again the timer will need to be replaced. Thank you, Dana

Clicking, buzzing, compressor too hot, thawed out

Sounds like the compressor is in thermal overload. Let it cool down completely and meter the starting amperage on start to run. The compressor could be seized or it's windings could be shorted to ground (checking the resistance between the windings terminals on the compressor while unplugged will determine this.).

Fridge not cooling compressor works intermitently

If the compressor starts and runs for a few seconds it could be the relay. Or it could be the compressor itself has failed. When a compressor starts and runs for a short period it is possible that the relay contacts are arced together which would have both the start and run winding in the motor engaged at the same time for more than 3 seconds. This would result in the compressor tripping out on the thermal overload. It depends on what type of relay your compressor has. If it is a thermal relay, unplugging the refrigerator for about 15 minutes would allow the relay to cool off and reset.

Relay clicking, not cooling either side

First of all Give me model# and Serial#.
you will most likely have to replace main control board and evaporator fan motor. They have had a service bulletin out on this problem.
