Question about Toshiba 57H82 57" Rear Projection Television
I saw this post below, can you email me the manual and if I remove the board, would you be willing to repair it? I trust you more than a local show unless you feel it should be a no brainer for them. How much would you charge? Email me the details please! Thanks for the info below, we were sad to see our tv getting worse and this has given us hope again.
This is a somewhat common problem having to do with the hyper module, Toshiba p/n#23148024
There are a gouping of 16v/10uf caps in the hyper board that fail causing the distoritions you're describing here. At first, as the module begins to go bad the distoritions are present and usuallly go away or fade significantly as the set warms up - - this gets worse until the distoritions don't go away at all... From what you're saying you're at stage three already. :)
You have a few of options: (1) local repair shop pull the board and replace the caps or module; (2) Pull the module yourself and repair or send it in for board level repair; or (3) pull the hyper baord, order a new one and put it in yourself.
For 2 or 3 you'll be better off having the service manual and if you need it just email me privately and I'll send it. Make sure in your request to tell me the model number and reference something of this repair so I have a clue of what you need.
BTW the hyper board is on the left side of the unit mounted vertical on the signal board inside a metal can.
Sent a copy of the manual via Pando... Download Pando first, it's free...
Then download the manual from the link you're provided...
I repair hyper boards for $160.00 including the shipping back to you...
