The operating thermostat has most likely failed. When the dryer heats up, it gets too hot and the high limit thermostat turns it off. When the machine cools down, it will start, again.

Dryer appears to 'overheat'...starts a load but stops before finishing then won't start again for hours...

Test air flow. Remove the exhaust hose at the rear of the dryer, run the dryer and form an opinion on the volume of air flow, hook the hose back up, turn on dryer again and verify that the same volume of air exits the building. Usually a build up is the cause of your complaint.

Kenmore king size capacity 90 series

could be thermal overload in motor its a motor protector in the motor when the motor gets hot it cuts power to the motor when motor cools it closes and resets age of drier counts some times you can take drier apart and blow dust out of motor and will fix now if the door is not closing tight vibration can cause door switch to break contact that will do it too most of time motor or relay must be replaced

Dryer runs for two hours then will not restart, 30 minutes later in run great for two more hours

Motors are frequently fitted with therm trips to switch them off if they overheat.

Leaving the motor off for a while allows it to cool and thus the motor will start again.

To stop overheating look for the source of the trouble i.e. what is causing the overload. Check the air flow path for blockage (have you lost any socks lately?) Clean all the filters. remove any vent pipe and examined for blockages.

I have a Kenmore 90 series dryer..this summer it started to go on all by it's self, if the door was closed it just would start..we had to keep the door open so it would not run. that lasted a few months...

Have you called themanfacturer re this problem you either have a faulty door switch or your timer is defective.I suggest you talk to manfacturer or a good applince repair there could be a defect in the dryer so ask them

Turns off after a few minutes

sounds like your motor is overheating or going bad. sometimes lint built up around the motor can cause it to overheat. or the motor is dying.

Kenmore Dryer 90 Series will start but suddenly stop...

what starts and stops? the entire dryer or maybe the drum? Do you do anything to make it restart other than pushing the start button? This initially sounds like a temperature switch is opening and resetting after it cools. If you can describe the problem a little more in detail it would help.
