Inserted DVD and the screen said "Reading." Then it jumps back and says "Disc 1" and then back to "Reading" again. Then it finally stops and says, "No Play" I tried this with several DVDs. What's going on?

I can think of two issues.
1. It can be that the optical head is weak and so is not scanning- check with original DVD to confirm.
2, It can be due to friction of the drive, the speed of the spindle motor can cause this issue. Also check if the height of the spindle is the correct alignment to the optical unit.
Given how close to the warranty termination the problem occurred, I would call Sony and request warranty service. You should speak to a supervisor who will have the power to grant that concession. If that fails, open up the unit and clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. That may resolve it. Otherwise, the optics assembly will need to be replaced. I think that model uses a KHS-240. I can look that up if it comes to that though.
