Question about Sony Walkman NWZ-S616F MP3 Player
I can not get videos to play on my Sony mp3. I've converted my avi files to mp4 format and moved them over to my mp3. When I try to play it back on the mp3 it says that the format is not supported. What am i doing wrong?
Hi everyone, I had this problem with the Sony MP3 players I bought for my kids (NWZ-S615F). There's a new (free) video converter from iWisoft (download.cnet.com or easy-video-converter.com) which does the trick. I looked into the others mentioned here and there were some virus/trojan horse concerns but so far this one seems fine. I downloaded the file, then did a virus scan, then ran the application and did another virus scan. I've used it 10-15 times since then and did another virus scan and nothing comes up so looks good. Choose the output file format as the first option under iPod. If it hangs while doing the conversion, try to run the output file before you get frustrated - I've found that most of the time the conversion was completed before it hung and the video plays fine.

A big problem with the Sony-NWZ-S616F is that they give you squat for conversion software. What you need is Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate - Under the pre-set conversion options select "iPod (320x240)MPEG-4 Mini" than RENAME it make a new preset with say "Sony-NWZ-S616F" as the description. Don't change any settings either as it works just fine the way it was setup originally for the Ipod and I found that increasing the settings only makes it worse (in audio you lose a channel if you change anything and in video there is no real quality change it just takes longer to convert and wastes space on the player) - I have Ratatouille, Smokey and the Bandit, Surfs Up, Space Chimps and a few other full-length movies in mine. SAVE and CONVERT all your movies in your PC's hard drive and ONLY put in your player what you want to watch at the time and ONLY transfer 1 converted file at a time using a true USB 2.0 cable. IF It's too slow when transferring you will get an error that it was unable to copy the file. If you try to send over more than one file you might also get the same thing. It will take you about 45 minutes to convert an .AVI to a .MP4 but at least it will work on your player now.. firstname.lastname@example.org

This works for me and it's free as well: Get some free video conversion software called Super at this URL: http://www.erightsoft.biz/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe
If you want to check it out first go to the website: http://www.erightsoft.net/S6Kg1.html
Once you have installed this software and are running it, select [Sony PSP MP4] as the output container. You don't need to change any other settings. Then click convert and when it's finished copy and paste the finished file directly to the player's VIDEO directory (don't bother synching via WMP). Then sit back and enjoy the show!

I found a converter that you can trust. Go to real.com and download realplayer by creative. Within the player is a convertr you have to convert it to wmv, then set the resolution at 320 X 240 and it should work.

SOURCE: Sony Walkman Video NWZ-S616F
I used the "Allok Video to MP4 converter" and chosen "iPod AVC (H264) Format(*.mp4)" from profile.
And then copied converted video to video folder of the walkman. It worked :)
My Walkman model is NWZ-S615F

I think TheMp3Doctor is right, you could try to set the video size to 320x240 and play them again ...
As for me, ... As for me, im used to using Daniusoft video converter suite toconvert various video( HD video ) even DVD Movies to my Sony WalkmanNWZ-S616F , it is already optimized for output setting for sonywalkman...Easy to use.
