Question about ViewSonic N2750w 27 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

N2750W intermittent power on problems

Worked great for a year, noticed recently that sometimes it comes on and only displays a deep blue full screen and doesnt respond to any controls, remote or onboard. After cycling off the main power switch, it will sometimes come on normal. It is getting harder & harder to get it to come on and work however. Seems like if it has been sitting for a couple of days, it tends to turn on better.

I had the same problem and now it won't turn on at all. I suspect it is a power supply module. I found three different part #s on the viewsonic website that all describe a PSU power supply unit. I'm going to try to confirm the right one and take a chance at swapping it out. The part is between 70 and 90 USD so it might be worth a gamble as I can swap it out myself.

Anyone else have this problem or a solution?

When I first called Viewsonic the 1st person on the phone said it might be a power supply board, and then proceeded to send me to tech support, which was no help at all once they found out I was a second owner and that it was out of warranty. The phone triage person that was initially helpful also made it a point to let me know all parts could be ordered directly by consumers as noteed. So, anybody know the trick to opening up the casings on the N2750W?

Success follow up.

So it wasn't the PSU board but Viewsonic Parts was kind enough to give me an RMA# and I shipped it back. After hearing about dc inverter problems on other posts and trying the "hold down both volume buttons on the top of the set at the same time check" and noticed that I got a big blue square in the center of the screen it was easier to see why it wasn't the PSU. Something was powering the LCDs blue pixels so obviouosly the 120V to 12V and 5V PSU conversions were happening. Wish I new of this button test before I ordered the PSU. So I ordered, received and installed the main board a week ago and it has been working just like new. I would highly recommend this to anyone comfortable swapping out motherboards or the battery in your first generation ipod. I just did this a couple of months back and this helped me in being able to remove the back case of the TV set off without damaging, or scratching it. This is probably the hardest step of the repair. See my other post for details on opening the LCD-TV. The main board is behind the shealding in the center back of the the screen. You have to unscrew the support screws that help reinforce the RCA connectors and remove the post screws from the VGA and DVI connectors. There are some cable connectors that also need to be disconnected. Again, if you've swapped out a motherboard before (other than a snap-in and screwless Dell) this should be no problem.

There are two main boards listed on the web-site so call and confirm for your set. Mine was a B-00001786 Main Board priced at USD218.59 for an N2750W manufactured in Feb 2005

Good Luck. I was glad to get my 2 yr old set back for about a fouth what I would pay for a new set.

My TV intermittently will not power on properly. Should I replace the logic board or the power supply board?

easy answer I always replace the least expensive part first. If it doesn't fix it at least you have a new part. since the logic board talks to the power board it could be either one.

I recently purchased the 42 inch LCD and the picture is beautiful. The problem is, I will get these intermittent, yet frequent flashes of BLUE screen. Sometimes it is like the blink of an eye, other times...

If you recently purchased this unit, i suggest you take it back to the vendor, this is an indication of a bad main or intermittent T-Con board. You should still be under the one year manufacture warranty and they will send someone out to check or replace the boards.

You have a bad inverter board.I have seen this in quite a few units, various brands.Call electronica 303-322-3037.This is the only place i have found that can supply the part at a resonable price. The part usually comes as a display assy.

We bought one as well, sometimes it comes on and sometimes it don't. I think walmart needs to refund our money. They knew they were a bad deal since they don't even carry them anymore.
