If u get normal beep of ram then check your disply resolution .

when u start your pc press F8 key continus then if u get menu choos best configuration loading in menu.then change your resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768 .if u not get menu and your cpu ;s smps still work but not disply on monitor then clear your bioss . get away the cmos cell for 15 minutes from its case.then start your pc .i think your problem is solved.

When I awaken my NEC LCD 1720M the monitor green light just blinks for awhile before the picture finally comes on.

hi, try downloading and reinstalling the drivers, and also the manual for possible clues as to what's at fault.

I need to buy a new monitor. What kind of monitor will it support, GA, DVI, HDMI ? Thanks.

You should go for a Widescreen LCD ro LED monitor. They all support VGA and DVI. If you get a Full HD screen then it will have a HDMI connection also. Just make sure your Display card can handle it.

Color is fading bright n dark

Could be your monitor is going bad, plug a montior into your computer, if the new monitor does not fade, then you found that the old monitor needs replacment, however if both monitors are fading, try to
Restart ur computer and get into the BIOS. check if the line is there also. then plug in an external monitor into the VA connector of the system and check if the line appears there also.

If in both the cases, there is a line, then the problem is with the video card. if the line is only seen on the notebook display, then the problem is with the built-in screen, which means you will need to get the screen replaced, or get a new monitor. Check ur warranties.

If the video card is found to be the problem, then depepnding on the video card (on-board or extendible) it will need to be replaced. Again, check ur warranties for any free service.

Washed out monitor when viewing most web pages

exchange your dell monitor to gateway monitor. If the monitor from dell showed the same problem when you connect it to gateway. you must install video card driver. and if the monitor from gateway showed the same problem when you connect it to dell adjust your contrast to full and the brightness to 50% and adjust the colors to 100%

Montiors shut off

if the monitor goes into standbye when you plug it into the computer , it generally means there is NO signal coming from your video adaptor.
Plug the old monitor in , if it works, ide suspect the new monitor(s) are not working correctly.
if it doesnt work , you need to restart the computer in safe mode by repettitively tapping the f8 button as the computer starts, before it says "starting windows".
If you have a signal on your monitor in safe mode, then most likely you have a bad or corrupted video driver and it will need to be updated.
if you have no video in safe mode , you will need to remove the cover and physiclly check that all add-in card power cables and memory chips are squarly seatied in there slots. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE COMPUTER AND DISCHARGE ANY STAIC BUILDUP IN YOURSELF BY GROUNDING (TOUCHING) SOMETHING METAL BEFORE YOU TOUCH ANYTHING INSIDE THE COMPUTER.

AFTER YOU CHECK THESE THINGS AND TRECONNECT THE POWER AND TRY TO START......POST AGAIN HERE
