Hi, I had the same problem and found that the a60 has a tiny battery located on the side where you input the AV wires.  It is a CR1220.  The only place I could find it was at Radio Shak.  Hope this helps.

No image on screen when switched on. New batteries fitted. Canon Power Shot A60.

Hi,
If your Canon A60 camera shows previously saved pictures in memory card in playback mode but does not show live view in camera mode than ccd imager chip in camera got defective and will be replaced.
Canon offers free of cost ccd imager chip replacement. Click Canon CCD Imager Advisory to avail that FOC service.
Thanks.

After changing memory card my Canon power shot A60 will not power on...installed new batteries ..came on a short while with message memory card error...how can I fix this?

Take a look inside your camera's CF card slot. I suspect that you may have a bent pin in there. If so, don't fret. Although professional repair would be more costly than the value of the camera, there is a very good chance that you can repair this yourself. Please see this link.

I turn it on by pressing button and I switch

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.

I have the same problem... The composition of CCDs on several products of different brands have the same problem (heat and humidity will damage the chip). Contact a SERVICE CENTER OF CANON in your area and request instructions. They have to replace/repair their products free of charge to the customers.
I sent an email today to CANON USA requesting instructions.

Good luck!

Call Canon tech support. It's free support and you may end up coming out cheaper by upgrading your camera through their Canon Loyalty program than having it repaired.

Cyber-Shot DSC-P41 works at random

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on, or in your case powers on intermittently. They won't work for every camera, but they're worth a try:

If you open the camera up, whick I know is an intricate task, and take the screen down but don't unplug it, at the right bottom their is something that resembles a watch battery, if you can figure out how to get it off and find a replacement it will be fixed... This battery serves a a sort of memory power, even though you have batteries, this battery keeps the memory for the camera's software, so inturn without it the camera is dead in the water. this is fixable!

DisplY Issue

No image in capture mode ( camera mode )with no problem in playback is typically ( assuming the lens and shutter work ok ) caused by faulty ? dead CCD sensor...replace.
