Bissell Lift Off pet revolution vacuum losing suction

My Bissell Lift off Revolution vacuum, pet brush suction very low. Was working fine last time I used it. Have had it for about 8 months with no probs. Clean filters every (or sometimes every other) time I use it.

I have a Hoover Windtunnel Cyclone - I've had it since December 2007 - and the suction on it recently died. There's no obstruction in the hose, and when I turn on the vacuum and put it on its back, the bristles still run. To exacerbate the issue, it's also been shutting off (overheating) when I run it for more than ten minutes at a time. I have a pet German Shepherd, so I really need it to be working at its best! Thanks.

You may have a clog in the hose. Unhook the hose and see how the suction is there, if ok, then check the dirt inlet by the brush roll. If suction is low at the hose, then there is a clog in it.

The belt for the maain vaccume broke off and now with the new belt the roller will not work.

It sounds like your roller brush itself might be bad. Try holding the roller brush holding just the end caps with your finger tips, and spinning the roller. Does the roller spin freely? If no, this indicates that your roller brush's bearings have melted together. This is a common problem for Bissell vacuums, as they use cheaper plastic bearing caps. The roller brush is not covered under the warranty either.

When this part goes bad, this causes the belt to break almost immediately. If you tried replacing the belt, and it broke immediately, your roller brush has gone bad.

The brush is clean and spinning but it isnt picking up anything and just pushing pet hair around.

You mentioned pet hair. Remove the brush cover and check for a plug (possibly pet hair). Sounds as though you have a plug somewhere and it's not allow the suction to pull it through. Also check your filter and clean or replace as necessary. Hint; Never let you container get over half full, it reduces the suction.

Do the roller brushes freeze up?

Bissell rollerbrushes do tend to freeze up. They usually create so much friction to the endcaps and bearings that the ends melt and the brushroll freezes. you should always look for a vacuum which has a metal roller brush they will last alot longer, especially with pet hair.

The brush is not working anymore

Your drive belt is probably broken. They usually need to be changed every 6 to 12 months. If you haven't replaced the belt recently I would try that. You can get the belts you need through this link and also view the manual which has step by step instructions on how to change the belt. hope this helps!

Bissell Lift OfF Brush Roller Stops Rotating

They make the worst machines, the rollers are cheap and they make it so you cant take them apart to clean them. You don't want a dyson either, they aren't any better for pets. With all that hardwood floors you should get a good canister vacuum, sebo and miele are the best.

Well my bissell lift off revolution turbo just lost its suction?

Here's the manual for your vacuum is you don't have it already

www.thinkvacuums.com/pdf/uprights/Bissell_LiftOff.pdf

I would first start checking for a clog somewhere in the system. Second I would check the brush roller for problems. The manual explains all these tasks and how to check for them.

Hope this helps you

Main Brush Failure

first check if the brush motor is turning before you spend money on a new brush roller and belt. remove the belt by unscrewing the screws holding the brush cover ( the part touching the floor ) and slip the belt of the rotor. turn the vacuum on, and the brush on while the vacuum is in a reclined position. if the motor is not moving, you need a new motor.
