How to connect hp deskjet 610c to windows xp laptop's USB connection? I have Hp 610c printer and it was connected to desktop with windows98 by some big cable, now i want to use it by connecting to my laptop having windows xp home edition.

Windows 7 should have the correct driver built in, but if not; you can use the generic deskjet driver, any 6XX driver, and I think the 870c and 970c work as well.
The appropriate printer drivers are bundled with XP. With the printer connected to the computer and powered on, the system should automatically recognize the printer and install the correct drivers if it is connected via USB. If it is connected to the parallel port, go to Control Panel -> Printers, select Add New Printer and follow the on-screen prompts.
What operating system are you running on your laptop? This model only supports Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Mac OS/X. Make sure you have installed the printer USB drivers (included on the printer software CD) first. If you are connecting the printer directly to the laptop, all you should then need to do is connect the printer to the mains power, turn it on, and connect the USB cable between the printer and the laptop. If you are connecting to a printer that is connected to another computer, you mus make sure printer sharing is enabled on the computer the printer is physically connected to.
