Question about Acer Aspire 1360 Notebook

1 Answer

Just a question...

So it looks like gfx card problem to you? Have you got that kind of symptoms with your one as well or do you think it is some general manifestation of a gfx card running last breath? Thanks for your opinion, I share the feelings with Acers.
My friend had a really hard one before that was so much pain to run that I've spend whole week fixing it. Did it and never want to see it again.

Oh I know It is from experience, The acer laptop failed on me two times. I tested the laptop with diagnostic hardware. Everything else passed OK expt the videocard.

Yeah the Card is runing its last breaths, theres noting you can do, it will fail eventually. You could try selling it now on ebay, do mention that there are problems with the videocard and you wont provide warranty for it.

Thats what I did after it failed on me 2 times.. Got rid of it :)

How do I replace the video card?

When replacing your Graphics Card (GFX) with a new and more powerful one, then you have to make sure that:
  • The new card doesn't exceed the PSUs (Power Supply Unit) output (think it's 300 W)
  • You have a PCI Express slot for it.
  • Your PC fulfill the requirements needed by the GFX Card.
Look at the PC models spec sheet:

I have 2 ati 4890 gfx cards and they have 2 6-pin power connectors on them. do i hook up 2 6-pins to them or 1 6+2pin to each?

Either way for as long as you can supply the 12v power to both gfx cards. You will not be able to use your gfx card if it isn't powered.

Its look like out of range 54.3khz/80hz, futhermore monopoly game is running on another LG monitor of same model, another cpu. i hve Ge7300le graphics card. and driver is up to date. resoulution keep

Try switching the monitors to see if it's the monitor or GFX card issue, if it's monitor, attempt to reset it on the menu to default settings, If it's GFX card issue, go in safe mode and uninstall the GFX driver and restart and reinnstall new drivers.

Green Screen

Hello James,

Well it could be several things, however my money is on one of two....

Its either a faulty/loose connection(one of the ribbons or a solder that has become loose) or it is a fault on the GFX card.

You can (and should) install the drivers for the card, but I think you may find that the fault is due to heating of the GFX.

The only way to resolve this, if, after downloading the drivers and they dont cure the fault, is to open up the computer and look for any loose connections and if you find any, then carefully push them together.

The solder will be harder to find if thats the fault, but look for any discolouration around the solder joint and carefully move whatever the solder is attached to, to see if there is any give in it. You will probably see the solder move freely away from the pin that it is attached to.

However, the best advice would be to take it to a repair shop and let them look at it if your unsure of yourself and your ability to repair it.

One thing you CAN safely do is to use a small hoover attachment and to let it **** out all the dust from around the fan....I say this as I really do think that it is your GFX card overheating that is causing this, but either way, good luck with it.

If you found this helpful please rate it so that I know.

Need a new slim, low power gfx card

I would advise your friend to ugrade that PSU first. 450-500w at least. Depending upon your friends preference, both ATI and Nvidia offer decent cards for under 100 bucks. For the $200.00 he could upgrade both. Check out Thats where I buy all my stuff.

Good Luck!

No Output to monitor, no beeps, fans all OK

Hi karanda,
The green led on the board shows green letting you know there is power to the borad.
Does your GFX card have dual outputs? Try plugging into the other output.
If your monitor light goes from green to amber than your PCI-E is not putting out signal. Pull & re-seat video card.
Did you check Asus to see if your CPU is supported & check what bios version you may need to run CPU?
Chcek here: Check what your M2M-E supports.

Your board only supports these two CPU's
Phenom 9500 (HD9500WCJ4BGD),2.2GHz,95W,SocketAM2+,Quad-Core
Phenom 9600 (HD9600WCJ4BGD),2.3GHz,95W,SocketAM2+,Quad-Core

You need Bios version 0802 in order to run the above CPU's.

Good Luck & kind regards!

Dell monitor power down mode with Geforce GFX card install

I think maybe some how the main graphics for your pc has possibly switched to onboard. Try getting into bios F2 or DEl on boot up and highlight Advanced ChipsetFeatures and press Enter. In here make sure your AGP card is set as the Primary graphics controller. When done press ESC and 'Y' to save settings, then re-boot pc. Hope this gets you running again.
