Question about Philips 42PF7320A 42 in. Plasma HDTV
I know someone else posted this, but I'm still searching for a real solution, or at least some idea of what exactly is causing the problem, if it is DIY fixable, or how much it might cost to get fixed.
After about an hour of use, the top half of the display goes black. Sound and the bottom half of the display are fine. Doesn't matter what cables or AV source I'm using (DVD, Cable box, Wii, etc). I've tried component cables and HDMI).
I've heard it happens with some Samsung plasmas too (they used some of the same inner parts as the Philips).
Sounds like your having problems with your Y-main(upper buffer) is getting too hot. The IC's located on this board are really bad about going out a lot. If you take the back cover off your Plasma. U will see that the manufacture of the panel is Samsung and the panel model is probably S42AX-YB01. you should be able to purchase the board. probably will run about $ 150.00.
Hope this helps
