Sony SA-W305 Please Help

Hello, my uncle gave me a Sony SA-W305 Surround Sound System, I am trying to set it up on my TV and I am having difficulty, the only sockets on the back are Line in and Line out, how do I connect this to my tv? I believe my uncle received this product with a DVD player.

I have the same problem... got the subwoofer given to me without literature. I expected to se a left and right RCA input, but only has a RCA in and out. Also confusing is the fact that I got 4 matching satelite speakers with the subwoofer.... on the back of the woofer is a left and right input and left and right output in the usual speaker spring clip configuration. No apparent way to hook up 4 satelite speakers? I seems to me there may be two different ways to hook up this sub woofer and I havent a clue how to do either??? Anybody have a manual for this sub-woofer? HELP???

Your TV would need an audio-out for this to work. Not all TVs have this.

NO SOUND FROM TV THROUGH THE SOUND SYSTEM SPEAKERS

Hello,
All you need to do is follow the following directions on your TV and you will be on your way listening to your great Philips TV on your great Sony Surround Sound. You do not need to buy any other cords or anything else. Its just a setting on your TV that needs to be adjusted.
By the way, I have a Sony Home Thearte System DAV-HDX275 and I've had it for almost 8 months and its sounds good with my TV and Movies. The speakers are very cheap and it doesn't give you the sound you expect. So I came accross some Boston Accustics CR65's that are not sold anymore but they did run around $700 a peice. I am upgrading the Reciever very soon to a better qualtiy Reciever. This Surround Sound System is great for a starter Surround Sound System.
  1. Press MENU on the remote control and select TV settings >
  2. Press up or down to highlight a sound setting and press right to select the setting.
  3. Press up or down to adjust the setting, and press OK to confirm the change.
  4. Press Menu to exit.
You want to pick Incredible Surround, but if that does not work try them all. The Incredible Surround should do the trick because that switches it from the TV Speakers to the Surround Sound.

Thank you for using Fix Ya!

Don't forget to rate the overall satisfaction of this solution.
Have a Great One!

Sony super woofer sa-w305 fried

Any 6 " subwoofer will work as long it has the same speaker terminals on the back. Look for a non-powered one to save on electricity.

Check eBay for hundreds of them.

Sony sa-w305

Hi bob,
yes I have the active subwoofer book, SA-W305 1998

If you let me have an e-mail address, I will scan and send you copies (8 pages) regards Brian.

P.S. I have been using the unit on its own, just connected to my new tv, and the bass improvment is fantastic.

I had to have the amp TA-VE150 repaired,by having the IC joints resoldered, due to overheating.

Sony surround sound hookup

In short, the answer is: Hook up all three to each other. I have a Samsung DLP HDTV, and I was trying to hook up a Sony DAV-HDX500 home-theater system and a Comcast HD set-top box, but I found that the Sony user guide is helpful only for setting up the speakers. Most of what it had to say about HDMI and getting the TV sound or cable sound to go through the speaker system was wrong (or, at least, it didn't work for me). So, here's what I did. I connected Component video cables (Y/Pb/Pr out) from the Cable box to the TV (Y/Pb/Pr in), audio cables from the Cable box (audio out) to the Sony system ("SAT/Cable" audio in), and an HDMI cable from the Sony system (HDMI out) to the TV (HDMI in). This allows me to 1) watch DVDs with surround sound through the TV's HDMI source (when the "DVD" format is selected on the Sony system), 2) watch cable with surround sound through the TV's Component source (when the "SAT/Cable" format is selected on the Sony system), and 3) watch cable WITHOUT the surround sound, as I did before I ever had the Sony system. One item of note: When watching a non-HD channel with the surrond sound on, the audio is slightly out of synch with the video; thankfully, there's no such problem on HD channels. Anyway, I hope this helps. It drove me crazy for two days straight!

Connect PS3 for playing/viewing blue-ray thru surround sound

Connect the PS3 to your TV with the hdmi cable and to the surround sound system with a digital optical cable, then set your PS3 to output sound through the optical port (through the sound options menu) and you're good to go!
