DCS Caller ID

I have a DCS Prostar with a TRK CI card. What do I need to do to use caller-id? Besides call my carrier and get it turned on. Is there any software or additional hardware required?

Thanks so much. paulm@harbec.com

Thank you very much - very concise instructions.

Now, however, I have been told that my EXPN 1 card won't do it - that I need an EXPN A1 card. I guess that I'll haveto get ino the hunt for one of those.

    thanks again SBIZSYS.

You need to go into programming and turn cid on for all co lines on your c1 card and on all ext's that you want to show cid on incoming calls. Follow these steps :

to enter programming, you can use any display phone. Without picking up the handset.

press transfer
dial 800
passcode = 4321 (if it has'nt been changed)
press 1
press the speaker btn
dial 312
you will see 201 . press the ans/rls key, this will change where the 201 was to all
use the volume arrow up to change to CID ALLOW
press the right softkey (this key is the triangular key under the display just to the left of the scroll key.
Now, press the speaker btn and dial 414
you will see 701 in the top left of the display .
press ans/rls key. this will change 701 to ALL
press the volume arrow up to change from normal to cid trunk
press the right softkey under display .
press transfer to exit programming and you should have
Caller ID.

Does the prostar 816 plus have caller id?

It does have caller ID however you need to check that your call carrier is supplying inbound CLI. check on your handset that it is set to show this by pressing TRANSFER 119 then use the volume key to set it to show name or number first. check out http://www.abbeytelecom.com it has loads of Samsung DCS programming and training videos, I posted one as a example for you

Are there any models of the prostar that support caller id?

No. The Prostar 816 is a 1994ish analog system. It was replaced with the DCS digital systems and they do support CID. The phones are not interchangeable.

How do you set up caller ID on a Norstar M7208 phone with 4 lines?

There are a few other things you need before it will just work on your phones. You need to get Caller-Id activated by your carrier on each of the 4 lines. You also need to make sure your system has a Trunk card capable of Caller-Id. The card in your systems should be labeled CID.

After this you still need to program the lines for Caller-Id in the configuration section of programming.

How do you turn on caller ID on a Panasonic KX TGA181AL

Is your phone operated off a panasonic system? is so you need a caller id card. if not then you would need to inform your phone service provider that you need caller id. if you have caller id and you do have the caller id card you would need to get a hold of a panasonic tech who could turn on your c.id as long as it is being provided from your phone service and the card is installed.

Caller ID?

No. I think the Prostar was mid 1990's manufacture. It was replaced with the 50si and DCS family. IIRC the 816 phone is not compatible or ugradable to any of the newer product.

Caller ID

First off seven to nine you do not use an external cid unit for norstar systems. Make sure you have a caller id card in the main ksu or key service unit( the phone cabinet) It should say CI on it. If the card says DS then you do not have a caller id card on the system and will need to exchange it for one. Then the system phones will have to be programmed for cid.
