Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player

Charge problem! I have a creative vision:m and went to charge it but when the plug kinda fizzed for a second and the light on the plug went out! I plugged the MP3 player into my laptop but now it will not recognise that it is connected and the although the charge icon comes up, it flashes but even after a few of hours there was no change to the amount of battery left. If anyone can help I would most appreciate it! Thanks Kateflo25

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Creative zen won't turn on


had same prob to the T...found this post and it fixed it...it's the computer not the zen...once I did the two steps my zen started charging and turned on...go figure...the flashing blue light doesn't mean it is charging.

If you have windows set to do automatic updates, you most likely had a windows update installed that caused this conflict with Win Media Player 11. No fix has been posted by Microsoft yet, so the only workaround is to Uninstall/Rollback Windows Media Player 11. Goto <Control Panel<Add/Remove Programs and remove Windows Media Player 11. Follow prompts, restart computer when prompted to. Also uninstall Windows Media Player 11 Runtime application following same procedure above.
This will roll your Windows Media Player back to version 10 or 9, whichever you had installed prior to version 11. You will need to re-configure Windows Media Player again.

Your Zen should now be recognized by WMP and Creative software. You probably need to upgrade your firmware at this point, follow the instructions on upgrading your firmware, and you should be good to go.

This is a windows problem, not a creative problem. Dont blame Creative for the screwed up hotfixes that Microsoft puts out on a regular basi

Vision: M won't charge


The battery not charging,
I hat the same probleam. Solution reset the unit while is plugged on the Ac charge, turn off and on. will work.

unfortunately,the best solution is to send it back to creative for them to check it out. this sometimes happens when the player has been unused for too long and battery "under charges", which there is a solution.but seeing as u used it under normal conditions,that cant be the problem

Creative vision M 30 gig not working.


In Australia is 220v the standard? This player might be a 5V, US-market version. Transformer would be required.

have you tried to 'reset'? I belive that kinda "force it on" :) You can then reboot to start it up normally.

"If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."

Creative Vision: M Won't Power Up


I had a similar problem with my Zen Vision: M. I had let it sit for awhile and the battery lost all power. It wouldn't charge or connect to the computer. After fighting with customer support for a long time they agreed to have it shipped in for service. I also was not able to find my receipt to send them. But I bought it at Circuit City and they are able to pull up any receipt for any purchase made with them. I suppose you could always try to try that with the retailer you purchased the device from. Before you go to all that trouble though try these steps: 1. Connect the device to the wall charger. 2. Hold the power switch to ON. 3. Put a paper clip into the reset hole. 4. Continue holding the power switch on until the Creative logo appears. 5. Select Format All from the Recovery Mode menu. (Note: THIS WILL ERASE ALL DATA FROM YOUR DEVICE! - but it's better than buying a new device) 6. When the reformatting is done, select Reboot from the Recovery Mode menu. Let me know what the results are from this.
