Question about Simplicity 7850 Premier Bagged Canister Vacuum

2 Answers

Overheated vacuum After I finished vacuuming the library last night I changed the bag and shook out both filters and vacuum would not restart. The canister unit felt real warm to the touch but I had been using it a least 1/2 hour non stop. The bag was pretty full but not overly so. It's a Simplicity canister with power head. The carpet is long shag from the 70's Did it just over heat? Thanks Shauna

I have a Simplicity 7850 (7 Series) that would not turn on. Thanks to these posts, I found a "Thermal Reset" Button on the bottom left of my upright, on the backside. I also found that my bag had become dislodged, causing buildup of dirt, and ultimately an overheated vacuum.

I don't think the problem is in the "bag full" system. It acts like some sort of overheat protection device.

It normally won't over heat unless the bag is too full, the filters are clogged, or you have have a clog in the hose or down by the brush roll, the inlet may be clogged. Some will restart after a while, some others have a reset to push. If it won't power on, then you have a problem and it will have to serviced.

I have a Simplicity canister with power head. I have only had it a few days. Aproximately the 3rd time it was used it started over heating. I have checked the hose and cleaned the head. I don't know what could be causing the problem? What else could be causing it to over heat?

Why won't my hoover u6434 900 turn on?

Hello! The vacuum has a thermal protector sensor that will automatically shut off the vacuum when it is overheated. The vacuum should turn back on once it has cooled down. This can take up to an hour. Overheating is usually caused by a clog or a filter that needs to be cleaned or replaced. Below are steps you may follow to check your vacuum for blockages.

1. Locate the primary filter behind the side grille. Wash the filter, squeeze it out and allow 24 hours to air dry outside of the vacuum. It should be washed about every other month.

2. Locate the secondary filter located in the vacuum base under the paper bag. The secondary filter can be washed in the same manner as the primary filter.

3. Replace the bag if it is full.
4. Remove the hose from both ends. Use a broom stick to gently loosen and clear any clogs from hose.
5. Remove the bottom plate and brush-roll. Use a wooden spoon or something similar to loosen and remove any clogs from the lower hose.

Hope this helps!

I have a Windsor Sensor s12 and power shuts off after 5 min. of vacuuming. I'm wondering if it's overheating of if there is some other sensor that causes it to shut off.

Your Sensor most likely has an internal heat sensor that is shutting off the motor. Some vacuums install an external heat sensor with a reset button that you must push to re-start the vacuum. If your model does not have an external reset button it is most likely a sensor inside the motor. If it is defective the motor must be replaced to solve the problem. But first make sure the overheating is not being caused by a blockage somewhere or the bag is too full. Air must pass completely through a vacuum starting at the floor where it picks up the dirt through all the canisters, filters, bags, etc. and then is exhausted from the vacuum. Any restrictions or blockage can cause the motor to over heat.

99% of the time you can fix this problem with a new filter i have put the link in for the filter for your vacuum cleaner if you have changed the filter in the last 3 months then you might have a blocked hose check the hose first then get yourself a new filter

3 lights show up on the top of my vacuum and the center one I don't know what it stands for. Plus, the vacuum seems to be getting too hot.

The one that looks like a cord plug lights up when the vacuum is plugged in and indicates it's getting power.
The one that looks like a thermometer lights up when the vacuum is overheating, and indicates there's probably a clog in the hose or power nozzle behind the brush.
The next one indicates there is no bag in the vacuum. Machine will not run.
The last one indicates the bag is full and needs to be changed. A full bag or clogged pores will result in overheating, however the vacuum automatically turns off when this happens to protect the motor.
It sounds like you need to replace the bag. If you still have problems, it's probably due to an internal part called a control valve assembly. That is an in shop repair, and the vacuum needs to be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for service. This is most often due to "made to fit" bags being used instead of "genuine" bags. In this case the motor and interior of the machine need to be cleaned as well. Dirt, even fine dust, in the motor will shorten the life of the motor dramatically.

I have a Eureka The Boss Smartvac. I was vacuuming and it just went off. It was on one second and then off the next. I changed the bag thinking it was full but it didn't go back on. What's happening?

it overheated, just have to wait a few minutes, maybe change bag and have a look at filter in bottom of chamber where bag is located, clean it if its really dirty. lack of flow will cause the vacuum to overheat.

.. it just won't work.....

The Cloth Bag Filter has a beanbag weight in the center. It is held in place by a metal band around the outside of the filter -

there should be a loop next to the edge that you can grab and pull to the center - then the filter should come out of the upper tank. the band is flexable. powder is a big problem with any Vacuum -- DON'T use carpet powders they clogg any vacuum. sheep up what you can - when you vacuum -clean the filter and tank soon after- you can burn out the motor because of lack of air.
